New Release: EA-7 Edgley Optica (ORBX)

I have a flat “curve” as well, with 0 dead zone. On flare I feel like I’m going to pull my yoke off the desk.

If I have time I am going to give the other Optica a go, and see how that compares handling wise.

In this review he found some of issues such as oil temperature gauge which are worth noting.

Try to add lots of elevator trim before landing and manage your approach speed. My first landing is way smoother than takeoff

Yes, I had trimmed for 60kts, as advised. On flare I have to pull my yoke all the way back to my chest. Those bungie cords in the Yoko’s offer a lot of resistance.

As I say, I’ll try the freeware version for a comparison.

As the developer of the freeware version I would like to ask you all to ensure you’re using this thread for Orbx feedback and the “Aerosoar” thread for Freeware feedback. It will help with any confusion for both of our teams tremendously. As always congrats to Orbx on the release and as mentioned above, my final update should be out this week and as I am a solo developer, I can’t keep up with all the requests. So if the freeware version isn’t working out, I can’t recommend enough to try the Orbx version as I’m sure they will continue updating any bugs. Congrats again and I appreciate all the kind comments. I understand there will be comparison videos and such, but please keep these threads clean of any competition, comparisons and allow the main feedback of each aircraft to flow through.

Well said, that man.

@NewkTV] I purchased th ORBX before I saw yours, I enjoy flying them both.

I particularly like yours as it does not bank to the right all the time like the Orbx ( I am sure they will fix that), but yours will work with AP, (if operated from Keyboard) .. That is a God Save on an 8 hour Surveillance flight :+1:

Bank right? or left?

mine doesnt do any uncommanded banks

Mine Banks to the left.

Keyboard AP works!
ie ALT HLD & HDG HLD work?
Will have to look at that as my eyes are gone after 15 minutes of screen time & I like to do longish journeys.

The Orbx version does have AP coding in Engines.cfg & Systems.cfg, that appears to allow AP, (as opposed to ‘Turned Off’), but I haven’t been able to get the Keyboard AP to ‘take’.

There is no AP Gauge defined. One should be able to add the KAP140, (you wont SEE it in the cockpit) but you can operate it from the keyboard – or from your Hardware Cockpit device… or in my case a “Stream Deck”

I honestly think OrbX should add the Auto Pilot and also GTN750 integration… and see what they can do about the left pull, the plane is hangered until that can be resolved.

The way my Keyboard AP works is that with keyboard mappings set in MSFS, I toggle AP ON/OFF with the Z key.
With AP ON, when I hit Crl + A, (ALT HLD), & Ctrl + H, (HDG HLD), as you say I don’t have a visual AP gauge, but I know its working when the Climb/Descent dial sits on zero altitude change & the compass is holding the chosen heading. Which allows me to set up long flights, do other stuff, then return & manage the landing.

The KAP140, where does one acquire that?

does anyone know what is meant on the plackard at 77-100kg when it says 15gp on the nose- what is 15gp?

The other Optica is a completely different flight model and does not have the ballast system.
Would be like comparing apples to bananas.

I have no issues with flare as the aircraft is trimmed out for landing, I never hand fly the descent, it’s trimmed.
I’ll grab my curves tomorrow to post them up for comparison

Many thanks @NewkTV

Fully agree with you and good luck.

Ellie

Again to clarify, the real aircraft does not have an autopilot, therefore our version will not have an autopilot, pop-up window or implemented in the cockpit.

None of the real-world aircraft we have seen have a Garmin 3000 and therefore ours will not have a Garmin 3000.

If someone wants to make a mod for it, that’s entirely up to them.

I flew with a group of people yesterday for 3 hours with the aircraft all trimmed out and no need for any autopilot. Small corrections for wind bumps but for 95% of the flight we were all hands off stick.

I have a flat response for my yoke, no curve. I won’t be changing that for one plane, but I would be interested to know whether you use that curve for only this plane.

bought it today , it flies great , no problem what so ever with it
