Are you ok?
Yep, that’s about right, the power scalar for the engine is 0.37 on 1720 max hp, which would be about 636 HP.
I imagine the plane is a bit too slippery to handle full power, so they had to tone it down? By 2/3 does seem a bit much. Maybe it needs more drag associated with it?
By comparison, the default bonanza has a power scalar of 1.0, which is what you’d expect.
So, I imagine they’ve got some work to do on balancing the forces here to get that power scalar back up.
Who knows why they did it, though? It is just a simulation, so, maybe that’s where they ended up and it felt ok to them?
This thing is a BEAST! If I ever learn to control it, it will be a ton of fun.
Love it, Neil - And RAF Valey looks fab
There a new mod for Valley on Flightsim.to as well so I have even more reason to try a flight from there to the mach loop
So, I’m looking for a good airport to fly from in Britain with a grass field and one of the old WWII control towers and maybe some barracks and period hangars to fly this from? Is there one for MSFS? I checked Flightsim.to, but none popped out at me.
You could do worse than Headcorn EGKH. It is my local field and many classic warbirds still fly from there including a Spitfire on a daily basis. Quite a thrill to be in the pattern with one of those! It was a forward operating base for the RAF and later the USAF during the war. It has a long grass runway and has a nice retro feel to it. Burning Blue Simulations do an excellent payware representation of it with plenty of classic warbirds in the scenery.
Well, I have that say that was AMAZING! I completed a full cold and dark Spitfire experience flown from Headcorn over Bewl water just like the real spits in Kent/East Sussex do all of the time. I landed at Headcorn and trusted the trim and pitch settings I applied, all went well as I had to apply very little rudder as I bounced along runway to eventual stop. I parked up near the other Spitfire at Headcorn, and full shut down procedure applied. I have read the full manual, watched countless tutorial videos including real Spitfire pilots…This bird is tough to grapple with but so rewarding when you nail it. You can tell this is a proper labour of love from the developers. It flies beautifully This is the single best experience I have had on MSFS so far…I would defo recommend the Spitfire to anyone (although expect a steep learning curve and be humble as you learn). I am taking NOTHING for granted when I fly this beauty again…The Spitfire is the boss, not me…I just respect it and it rewards you
The reason that your comments are being flagged is your rude behavior. We have also a saying in germany: “The way you call into the forest is the way it comes back.” (What goes around comes around)
You are welcome to discuss here but if you can’t behave you’re very welcome to leave as well.
Don’t forget to have the beer, as per the manual !!
Could you please tell me how to modify the default cockpit zoom?
I tried already with the " cameras " file, initialzoom, modified the values many times but I can’t see a difference
Is there another file I need to edit ?
Thank you
Great minds think alike my friend. I treated myself to a bottle shortly after I turned off my pc actually. I am still buzzing after that flight! My heart was properly pumping on landing. Total immersion
Oh lordy!
Popped into RAF Valley this afternoon for a short flight - ended up caning it through Mach Loop - tail chasing with 6 other Spitfires
Epic fun - tricky to find Fn Print Screen and tail chase, but here’s a few…
Burning Blue Headcorn is great. I think I have to edit my settings, because the white markers seem to pop in too late by default (running High ATM). Consequently, I had to memorize the exact location of the runway, since on the first couple tries there, by the time I could see the markers, I was too far off target as the most visible line is really the right edge of runway 28.
Also, in this photo, the markers seem wider than the payware, with a margin, no? Wonder if this is SDK limitation that markers are exact listed runway width.

But I did about 6 circuits there without much trouble once I learned the field better.
Anyone have better luck with crosswind landings? Take offs are more manageable.
I realize the Spit is rated for under 10-15 knots crosswind, but it seems like once you get beyond 8 knots or so, the difficulty goes up dramatically if the crosswind is fully perpendicular.
I was practicing with custom weather, and aileron correction easing up as speed increases worked well on takeoff, with gusting both on/off, but on landing it’s very difficult since the plane is so sensitive to dropping a wing if you meet the ground with any rudder correction. So you have to release controls just before landing (which I think is normal) but then if you deflect aileron into the wind shortly after landing, the plane seems a bit oversensitive to dropping a wing. Even with the stick full back.
Also, landing without flaps (which one might do in this situation), the plane seems to take longer than it should to slow down from 120mph even with power idle.
Anyway, just seems like the plane is a touch oversensitive to wind, maybe 15% or so, and coasts a little too easily.

Any ideas, guys ??
most defiantly what an awesome sight that would be
You could try this, but please backup your cameras.cfg before in case you do not like it. Made the default pilot position much better for me.
Open the cameras.cfg scroll to [CAMERADEFINITION.1] and try copying these lines over the two default ones:
InitialXyz = 0.274693, 0.259991, -1.178114 ; 0.274693, 0.279991, -0.978114
InitialPbh = -3.031527, -0.000611, -1.223307 ; -5.031527, -0.000611, -1.223307
