Aren’t we all, aren’t we all?
Version 2.3.0 of the Grob Tutor is currently uploading to the IRIS Storefront, once complete, it will be distributed to Orbx and Microsoft for integration with their marketplaces.
Version 2.3.0 contains the following updates (PC confirmed, XBox to follow;)
-
Variable Intensity Lighting on Map, Instrument and Panel lights.
-
Updated colour pallette for interior lighting.
-
HSI compass animation fixed (not getting stuck on north position).
-
Cockpit Preset settings adjusted for Runway and Taxi start positions.
-
Simplified Avionics Bus code for XBox Series X/S compatibility.
I’ve just downloaded the latest version now.
Just a point which might cause some confusion:
Your webpage and the Readme both say V2.3.0 but the manifest.json says package version 2.2.8
Thanks, David! Hey, whatever happened to that Vampire you were working on about a year ago? It was a sweet-looking bird.
Got shelved for the F-22.
I’ve been looking for a trainer aircraft and being ex RAF this one appeals to me most, especially at just under 20eur.
How is this aircraft now for the PC? All the reviews were at release and all seem to indicate a very nice aircraft with a superb model but missing a few things. Is that still the case? Understand the xbox has a few of these issues still, are they resolved fully on pc?
PC is good now, I’m happy with the overall experience.
Well, you would say that
For clarity, I love the Grob but have not yet tried the latest version. I’m sure it will be excellent.
Tuning the transponder by hand still results in comms with ATC freezing for the rest of the flight for me (PC).
Yeah, I remember that as I was prob. the first one to report it. You just have to accept your assigned code from the ATC window instead. Not ideal but…
I still get CG out of limits warning and some nose up trim is required for level flight with the latest version (PC).
Bought the plane earlier today and first impressions are that I am going to really enjoy it. Took off from Cranwell, did about 30 mins flying then landed in pretty horrible wind. Very good in vr too.
However one issue is that I cannot get the interior lights or instruments lights to come on from a cold and dark start. All 3 dials are fully on plus the instrument lights switch, with both gen and battery on. Bizarrely if I keep my finger on the button L (mapped for toggle lights) I can see the interior light flash on and off but never stay on.
If I start on the runway it works. All other aircraft i own work.
Purchased on Xbox and looking forward to fixes. As already mentioned
Also
- interior has a red hue like a light is on, all lighting switches off
- can’t tell what you are dialing in the barometric setting. I can see the altimeter move but it’s a guessing game as to exactly what I’m dialing in. Would be nice to have a read out.
If anyone has any insight into this one, would be appreciated *** see my edit ***
The plane flys well, easy to trim. It’s a hoot to perform aerobatics, rolls quite nice. Great views. Very forgiving on landings. Getting used to flying from right side was easier than I thought.
One other oddity, ATC calls my plane a “Heavy”? Anyone else notice this?
EDIT: After reading the manual, I found out that the altimeter is set to units of Milibar and not the HG mercury reading I was familiar with. MSFS ATC gives the barometer reading in HG units and it needs to be converted to Millibar.
So I now use this converter : Convert in Hg to millibar - Conversion of Measurement Units
There is probably a chart out there as well but this works for me.
I love how I keep learning new things.
This could be helpful :
PC or XBox @HeavenlyTunic11?
It’s on the pc. As said downloaded yesterday from your website.
Okay, I’ll look into it.
Another issue I have on Xbox I can’t move the throttle, propeller or mixture levers. I can highlight them but they won’t move. This is cockpit view and using cursor with Xbox controller.
Anyone else have this?
I purchased this software in early January and have struggled to get it working since within MSFS.
If I fly from a specified runway then I can watch the aircraft taxi out to the numbers but as soon as I hit ‘ready to fly’, I am taken into the cockpit (which is usually very dark) for a couple of seconds and then the sim crashes to desktop with a VCRUNTIME140.dll error. Every time, without fail. I have many aircraft and scenery addons but this is the only software that is guaranteed to produce a CTD.
However, sometimes, I can start the aircraft ‘cold and dark’, although this too seems to be a bit hit and miss. On those occasions when I have flown the aircraft and I’m going through ‘shut down’ and the end of a flight, I get duplicated throttle, RPM and mixture levers appearing - all in their correct slots but one lever handle up and the other one down ???
From the IRIS website I have clicked on the ‘contact us’ icon and have left them 5 e-mails up to today, with the first e-mail to them enclosing the VCRuntime error log and the second enclosing a .jpg file to show the duplicated engine controls. Sadly, I have had no response whatsoever from IRIS.
E-mails three and four simply asked them to confirm or deny receipt of my previous e-mails but once again, nothing.
In a final attempt and noting that they also work through FaceBook, (which I do not subscribe to), I asked my son to get a message through to them, which, lo and behold they responded to, saying they would check things out. That was two weeks ago and still I’ve heard nothing!
Looking on the IRIS site today I find that a new version of the GROB TUTOR has been released and so, full of anticipation, I downloaded and installed it. Exactly the same problems as before.
To those of you who have managed to communicate with ‘David’ - whom I can only assume is the D Bryce-Love’ who has his name painted on one of the GROBs - I say, ‘well done’.
To David, who a few posts ago left the comment :-
‘PC is good now, I’m happy with the overall experience’.
I can assure you that I am not!! Not by a long way.
