What a fun idea! Got a flight plan file handy?
Awesome, thanks!
I made my first The Long Way Home" flight in March with the B314. At that time I also made a plan for Little Navmap. I will do it again.
Thank you, so much, for sharing this!
Since I read the book, I’ve wanted to do this flight.
(BTW, nice to see you posting again, I haven’t seen you around much )
Thank you, I got distracted for some months. Back in time for MSFS 2024.
Here’s the plan on my Dropbox:
Firstly thank you very much for the update! I have been using the 314 extensively since launch date and the latest update with the AP holding the heading precisely is great. I have done plenty of oceanic crossings only using celnav but want to have a look at the weatherships. I dont think they have installed in my system (bought from your website). I do have all the 314 ports but I checked in little nav map and I dont see any NDBs over the ocean. I also repositioned the 314 to the coordinates of one of them and noticed no indication.
These are the contents of the seaports folder, is there something perhaps missing?
Thank you, glad to hear that you’re enjoying the Clipper!
The NDBs would be part of the b314seaports.bgl shown in your screenshot, the other files are redundant and can be removed. It seems you have both a recent and older version of the seaports installed in the same folder.
I’m not sure how Little Nav Map reads data, but it seems that this would be a glitch with the program, as they are definitely there and installed. If you fly near them, you will see them on the MSFS VFR map too:
Where exactly was it that you did reposition to and notice no indication?
Jerome
Thank you for the quick reply Jerome
For example here I am by N52 30, W020. Juliet should be here according to the map in the manual but there is nothing:
Also repositioned to Charlie N52 45 W035 30 and nothing as well.
I didn’t encounter November on my flight to Hawaii from SF.
I assumed I hadn’t been close enough to pick up its broadcast, but now I wonder if I have a similar issue.
I had intended to come back and use slew to see if I could locate it.
I see both Juliet and Charlie on the VFR map:
Please ensure that you only have the b314seaports.bgl in the above mentioned scenery folder.
Jerome
I love how the latest updates have revived this thread and brought people out of the woodwork to resume talking about the 314.
I get happy when I see a badge on the thread indicating a new post.
I’m about to get going on a flight, soon.
I’m reading the Ken Follett book, Night Over Water. I’m totally hooked on this aircraft now.
@NixonRedgrave , @LethalPie5 - The B314 is a perfect platform to navigate cross-ocean with celestial navigation. Try the add-on here - https://flightsim.to/file/17738/celnav-for-msfs-celestial-navigation-sextant
You’ll never be bored on these long flights again!
There’s a discord with plenty help, too.
what about fs 2024 compatibility of this beautiful aircraft?
I second this recommendation. I have used it exclusively for the 314 and its fantastic.
I don’t know, but I’m going to buy another copy from the Pilot’s Shop so I can hop on these betas. I got mine from Justflight, so I’m behind the curve.
I was interested in this plane at first but turned off by some of the early posts in this thread point out early issues. Glad to see active, ongoing development since then and the recent upsurge in activity. It’s definitely on my list to pick up at some point after this week’s big sim release, provided there’s a plan or a path toward eventual FS2024-compatibility.
In the meantime, I’m enjoying reading the hangar stories from those flying and appreciating the aircraft.
