Once again, this guy has been developing flight sim add-ons for what has to be going on two decades now. Can’t say whether this release is up to current standards and I don’t plan on finding out because it’s not my type of aircraft, but he is not an upstart… not having heard of him says more about you than about him, no offense.

Seems like he is trying
You guys talking about not having heard of Roland Laborie is like popping into a music topic and finding a bunch of Taylor Swift fans asking who this “Stevie Nicks” person is.
I’m a huge Crusader fan and I’ve flown Roland’s planes in the past, so I’ll likely grab this today.
This plane is not my thing. But I can 100% vouch for this dev…he is indeed “A friend of ours”
Got it! I’ve only gone for a single flight so far, but first impressions are very positive. Model looks great, flying feels good. Only issue so far is that I haven’t been able to get it into afterburner, but I haven’t read the documentation yet. Also, I think the fire-able weapons references are left over from the FSX/P3D versions.
More after I’ve spent some real time flying it, but initial impressions are good except the lack of afterburner and the sound – it’s aliased to the A320, ugh.
Also, saw a reference to $41 above… The SimMarket price works out to $33 US.
Going out on a bit of a limb here but looking at the pics the textures seem to look quite good ???
Do most of the switches work in the cockpit or are some just for show?
Switches work. Had to disengage the lock to raise the wing and lower the flaps. Radios, refuel probe, hook, and other switches are all active. This isn’t a perfect plane due to the sound and AB issues, but it’s definitely not one of those horrible portovers where nothing works on the panel.
Thank you. Sounds promising
I emailed the developer. Sound improvements are planned, and afterburner and flight model issues are awaiting SDK improvements.
Not sure how DC Designs faked the afterburners in the F-14/15, but apparently that’s not an SDK effect, but something Dean figured out.
Not sure if Roland’s aware of the workaround to the supersonic performance limitations that some of the other devs have discovered.
Only serious issue I have right now is that the braking sucks and you need a TON of runway to stop the plane.
Yea it’s definitely something Dean did, because I don’t think any other developers have had afterburners yet.
I really want to try this one out – did the dev say if the weapons will be included?
Yes , just after carrying out a few flights.
Exterior and interior modeling are top notch .
Flight model is ok , max speed is 620 knots on the deck , approx 500 knots max in a vertical dive from FL350 ??? Afterburner definitely required .
Sounds are the big let down . Airbus A320 engine sounds . Banking left or right sounds like a mechanic left his tool box in the cockpit .
Missile gimmick thing , yeah ok , launch missile , it goes straight ahead in front of aircraft, lift the nose and the missile lifts with the nose ( ie still stays in hud view as you lift the nose , while it’s flying away from aircraft , must be wire guided or something ??? ) .
Summary : Top notch interior + exterior . Flight model ok . Sounds big let down . Overpriced currently at €35 ( should be more in the €20 to €25 max range ) .
Feels pretty stable when flying…those brakes though. I didn’t even come in that hot!
However, look what I found at HKKI (Kisumu) when I ran off the end of Runway 6, What a find!!
I’ve been looking to do a Vietnam themed stream with. I’ll check it out tonight.
Aside from an alarm that beeps non stop it is OK. Buggy, Will be great some day, completely unflyable until whatever that alarm is goes away.
Best way / method I’ve managed to land with :
On downwind leg , decrease throttle to 50%, + extend air brake to 50% / 60% ( do not extend upper wing / flaps and increase throttle to 70% / 80% to prevent stall when turning onto base and final ) .
On final , your speed should be approx 200knots . Gradually decrease throttle ( speed will come back to 160 to 170 knots , keep the air brake at 50% / 60 % ) and glide onto runway . Apply handbrake on touch down .
Fuel pump? (Top right of dashboard) indicator lamp in amber with switch next to it.
I’d like to express my gratitude to Roland Laborie’s for making this plane. It’s an “oldie goldie” that is so much fun to fly. It’s fast, moves extremely well and has gorgeous looks.
As stated above I hope that future updates bring the sound close to the real thing (must be really hard to find real decent sounds for this plane nowadays) as well as improved braking performance.
Also, it would be interesting to know if the real plane handled like the one in the sim.
Has anyone got any good impressions about this plane,? I have to say it looks fantastic but the price point is a bit steep so I’m wondering if anyone here has been flying it and what their views are
I won’t get it as long as it doesn’t fly supersonic as it’s supposed to. It’s currently limited to subsonic speeds. Everything else seems decent except for Airbus sounds.
I got it a while back.
The modelling is far nicer than the promotional stuff portrays, but the sounds are indeed pure stock Airbus as far as I can tell which is a bit of a shocker.
I assume the developer will stick with it, but he really should’ve launched with a lower price as it’s heading towards stuff that is super polished.
