Thinking about this or the XF-11 for some weekend fun(that’s not the Fenix lol). Both look like a hoot to fly in the videos I’ve watched.
So I started flying this in 2024 last night. I couldn’t land the thing for the life of me, it kept falling out of the sky, until I read the manual. It seems like the author confused MPH with Knots. The manual has the approach speed at 110 knots. I was falling out of the sky at 100 knots, not knowing he prescribed 110 knots as the approach speed.
The POH, on the other hand says to use a minimum approach speed of 87 knots (Sec II p17b(4)), and 85 knot approach speed at a higher sink rate for carrier landings (Sec II p1g) (for the -4N, the -1 - -3 were restricted from carrier landings)
Otherwise, plane works ok in 2024, I haven’t found anything that doesn’t work yet, though, I haven’t given it a thorough workout. And the problem above, that’s endemic to the plane, not the sim. I’m contemplating writing the author.
I picked up both the XF-11 and the F7 this weekend. Really enjoy the XF but the F7 needs some better sounds. Flight model felt ok, modeling decent for the price.
I need some more time in it so that will tell.
What approach speed were you using for landing?
Don’t recall specifically but maybe 110-120?
Also I’m no expert on flight models ![]()
