It will be so cool to put a pair of contra-rotating propeller on it. But I doubt the sim can currently support this kind of propeller.

Interesting…the same question was asked for Grravel a few days ago on my Discord, and just for the fun of it I decided to analyse this one a bit. Here’s a copy-and-paste of my answer:

Fun question. Let’s tackle this!

To do this we’ll be asking ourselves 3 more questions first:

  1. What does Grravel already have?
  2. What do we hope to gain?
  3. What will we lose…

  1. What does Grravel already have?
    A massive power-to-weight ratio. Courtesy of the 230HP + 90HP boost engine and a very light air-frame (even after strengthening it). The Savage really does not weigh much and it’s what makes Grravel “pretty cool” at take-off, climb, landing, and pretty much everything else you ask of this bird. And she accelerates with the same speed of the fastest Lamborghini in the world, the Aventador Superveloce.

  2. What do we hope to gain?
    More speed? Uhm…for a bush airframe I’m already pushing it…it’s not supposed to go this fast at all with this sort of wing for example. VNE is a bit too high as a matter of fact.
    More acceleration? I already take off with just 4000-4500RPM unless I need to get out of a sticky spot. Reaching max speed is also done in no-time as it is.
    Even more climb rate? Ok maybe.

  3. What will we lose?
    Actually, what will we gain? Weight! Almost 50lbs more for just the engine, then add counter-weight to the tail as well. The PT6 will then need larger tanks, add another 200lbs. Strengthen the whole plane to take that weight and you can add 100lbs or more. Mmm…
    Bye bye low stall speed.
    We’ll also lose torque response. A turbine takes time to spool up and down. In a bush plane however you typically need rapid torque control during STOL landings especially, riding the stal horn down to your perfect short touchdown. Say goodbye to that.

So basically yes it’s possible, but she’s gonna lose too much. She won’t be Grravel anymore. A sluggish beast that’s overpowered and slow to respond. She’s not Vertigo, where all this would be a different equation. That air-frame was already able to take all of this and Vertigo is still nimble because she flies and turns at much higher velocities.

Sorry Grravel, no PT6 for you!

Obstructions be Gone!

Get her while you can guys, the Savage Obstruction will be permanently removed from Flightsim.to on Augustus 1 and shall no longer be available nor supported.

As you know I have a bunch of free aircraft out there for you to enjoy, but this particular one was always intended as an April Fool’s joke. It is too much work for me to maintain so many aircraft, especially since there’s always something that breaks after an MSFS Software Update or World Update (takes research, fixing, testing, communications and publication each time to address).

So when SC and Grravel will have the particles effects, you’ll have to give me the way to put Obstruction’s wheels on the Grravel, only for visual, its enough for me.

There is visual effects in the water, but you don’t feel the puss up, and the wheels don’t rotate like in the Carbon and The Grravel !!!

I never knew that. People are building and tuning such crazy STOL bushplanes I always thought that some Savages might be out there, sitting on glorious 50" Alaskan Bushwheels…
