I heard from an unofficial Varjo source, who is in the above linked discord in an unofficial capacity, that US orders should start going out next week. Certainly not an official Varjo statement, but more hope than we’ve had to date!

I asked Varjo about barrel distortion and about lens inserts for the Aero version - these are the answers they gave: Lens inserts (queried on November 1st 2021) … "Thank you so much for reaching out. You can use glasses while wearing our hmds. The veiw has enough depth to fit most standard size glasses. As for lense inserts our hmds have eye tracking within them. The lense inserts can causes issues with the ir tracking the eye movements. In the future we would love to find compatible inserts however at this time we cannot recommend them. Barrel distortion (queried Dec 28th 2021) … "We have released a new version of our software a bit before X-mas. This latest version of Varjo Base (3.4.) does have corrections to the distortion. I have asked them to elaborate on the amount of improved correction they have achieved and am waiting for their reply. I hope that VR Optician are able to provide suitable and compatible lenses without compromising the operation of the eye tracking.
All great points, thanks for sharing that. I don’t really care about eye tracking as much as it’s not used in MSFS anyhow and I naturally move my head around in Vr already with my g2 given the smaller sweet spot and lens design so moving my head a bit when looking to the side or even across the cockpit is something I do now. Even when not in VR, wearing eye glasses means I have to move my head around a bit more to look through the middle part of the lens where the prescription is sharpest.

Addressing dead pixel issue. Today we have spent whole day identifying the issue. It was a gap in quality check process at manufacturer/factory of the displays panels. This will be eliminated as soon as possible, and the next batch of devices that will be shipped out at the middle of the next week will be manually rechecked before shipping.
Every headset affected by a pixel issue will be exchanged without delay - ARMA - meaning you will get replacement first and only then Varjo will pick up defective unit. Please contact Varjo support if you are affected providing serial number of your device and preferably images of the the dead pixels taken with phone camera. As I said previously, all replacements will be manually checked before being sent out. Of course every replaced device’s warranty will start from the date when you receive a replacement.
U.S. folks (myself included) are starting to get “shipping soon” emails from Varjo…
It has arrived and does not disappoint - the clarity is better than the G2 but the sweet spot is huge. Im using my Sony headphones which work great. The performance experience is about the same as the G2 - maybe slightly more FPS - and I am running at 90% resolution on SteamVR and 90% in the Sim with most settings on high. Overall really impressed. Pretty much no god rays at night which is a vast improvement and really good colour throughout the sim.
How you will be compare FOV to G2 ? How much bigger it is?
Whats the FOV like and are you using one base station or two ? I have the G2 so have to get a base station. There are different ones out there, which one works for you ? (I think there is a HP, and a Steam Base station and some other brands ?? (never had to use those before). I came from the Oculus Rift, then got a Rift S, then the Oculus Quest 2 which sucked, then tried a Pimax 8kX which i returned and kept the G2. Now anxiously awaiting the Varjo. The only thing i am anxious about is if the FOV will be satisfying or too narrow, specially for spending this much $$$. Clarity and FPS seems to not be an issue.
Hi, the horizontal FOV is similar to the G2 although I would say the vertical is very slightly less. I’ve used it for a couple of hours now and the FOV is not an issue for me. The clarity is excellent. Is it worth the extra money? I think so!
I’m in the US and ordered on day 1, and just today got an email saying my order should ship within 2 weeks. Only thing is I placed 2 orders, one for the headset then another one for a base station and the email did not mention which order will ship soon, hopefully both of them though I did also purchase a base station from amazon so I will at least have 1 if the headset arrives before the base station from varjo.
I can hardly wait for it to arrive, I do love my G2 but find it hard to read buttons and labels in the cockpit and thinking this is going to make it much better for me.
I’m tempted to buy the Varjo Aero, but I got some questions.

Can I run at 60hz, so just 15fps are necessary to run at 60fps?

These are also my concerns regarding the aero. When I run my g2 without reprojection, it is not fluid. At 90 hz, it is not fluid either. With a 3080ti.
So i guess I’ll have to lower résolution if i go for the aero. So what is better:
- a g2 at 90% nis scaling
-or an aero at 80% nis scaling ?
the aero… much, much better lenses, better nativ resoulution, no problem to use lower supersampling, much better real VR company.
I ordered pretty early on day 1 and have not got a notice yet but I will be keeping a look out for one. Starting to get a little excited.
Did you happen to also order the laptop adapter? Someone on the discord hadn’t gotten their email and contacted order support. It was because they had ordered the adpater that it wasn’t shipping yet. He was able to work with support to cancel/rebook his order without the adapter (and mantain his spot in line). FYI just in case
No I only ordered the headset. I have my original order confirmation just have not received any emails regarding shipping yet.
Oops never mind I found an email from early this morning in my trash folder - not sure how I missed that one. It states the same says my order should be shipping in the next two weeks. Getting closer at least.
