Hi I bought a brand new computer (Windows 11 Pro, RTX 5080, Intel Ultra 9 CPU) and installed MSFS 2020, 2024 and all my essential add-on’s on to the new device. All are working fine except for 2 add-on apps:
-
ActiveSky MSFS - it just quits after I log in, properly activate the product, with or without FS20 or FS24 running. Contacted their support, added all the relevant exclusions in antivirus (I just use Microsoft default antivirus and firewall, both of which I have temporarily disabled). I ran several clean uninstalls and reinstalls, made sure using Run as Administrator for both the installation and when attempted to run. No luck!
-
Beyond ATC - the program opens and runs ok, but with FS2020 running, Beyond ATC cannot detect or connect to the FS!
Now I wonder if there’s anything in the FS2020 or FS2024 installations (SDK, SimConnect, etc.) that are not functioning properly?
Your help is greatly appreciated!
thanks
ActiveSky runs on it’s own outside of MSFS and uses the ASFS Weather Connect, so the fact that it’s just dying when MSFS isn’t even running is something else going on.
There is a setting to minimize to task bar once launched, you’re sure it’s quit (check Task Manager)?
What is Windows Event Viewer saying (Application Section)?
thanks but ActiveSky is not minimized but just quit.
- What should I be looking for in the Windows Event Viewer → Applications? The ActiveSky app is definitely not running in the background, etc.
- The Active FS Log file shows below: It always ends at this step: Added listener prefixes…

Launch EventVwr right after it crashes, and look through the most recent entries and see if there are any clues relating to ActiveSky.
thanks for the pointer. Nothing special in the EvtVr.
BTW, I just tried launching ASFS from within MSFS 2020 menu - same thing - quits after log in
Run Active Sky as administrator.

Does ActiveSky use an active internet connection?
I wonder whether it’s a router firewall issue, or maybe some sort of weird ISP block (much less likely.)
BATC uses an active connection as well, right? Maybe that’s a clue.
You should be able to access your router logs.
