Cool, so we are not trying to support a high resolution like 4k. Would not expect 1080 to be a issue.
What about your game settings though? - would be best to take a few screenshots of them and post for others to see.
With regards to freezing/crashing you are right to empty the community folder - try and get the sim working with a default set-up initially. I would also be inclined to firstly close any other software and tasks running on the task-bar.
It may even be worth running Windows in a âClean-bootâ condition to prevent other software and tasks loading when Windows starts - Google how to do this, its pretty simple but an effective way of isolating other software that may be causing conflicts and issues. Just noted you are running Steam so you will need to allow Steam related processes to start.
Game crashes to desktop without starting.
X-Plane Runs fine without doing a Windows reinstall and besides, MSFS is on a dedicated SSD and Iâm a musician with other apps on my machine.
You could try a Steam verification of files, I believe this may cause the sim to more or less to re-install with a Steam set-up. Frustrating but if it is CTD before it even gets goingâŠ
It may even be necessary sensible to do a complete re-install of the sim again⊠but once uninstalled make sure all folders and files related to sim have been removed - i.e. you may need to do a little searching/research to understand where and what folders have been created - donât rely on an uninstall capturing everything - been there done that but I use the MS Store version.
I am not saying to reinstall Windows, just disable those background task using a âClean bootâ - this is not simply a restart. It is just a way to trouble-shoot and try an isolate the problem(s) without other background tasks causing conflicts. If you do end up re-installing the sim it might be an idea to do so while in the Clean Boot state.
The crashes that you are experiencing may be bad/coincidental timing. @MSFS_Support is reporting on Twitter that there is an emergent issue causing people to be unable to get past the loading screen:
So, Steam reinstalls the Sim, for the 4th time now. X-Plane never had these issues.
Sadly these things do happen and upset us. This sim does funny things for us on the same type of PCâs but I have found that 9 out of 10 times its how our PCâs are setup and what programs we are using. As Blitzer said shut down all other programs that are running in back ground and then try MSFS. Its a great sim and its not perfect yet , but be patient and Iâm sure it will become even greater. I had similar issues in the beginning but I have it running quite well at the moment till the next update haha Cheers Mike
Errors on the nvvlddmkm and d3d11.dll are issues related to your graphics card. If you have a GPU overclock it, you should remove it. Just because it works for Xplane, doesnât mean itâll be stable for MSFS.
A brand new RTX3080Ti with 516.59 as the first driver installed. Donât know what else to do.
Iâm not sure if this will help you, but. When I had FPS and stuttering issue, I followed the steps here and the whole FPS performance just improved dramatically. I also disable photogrammetry. Those things are FPS killers on my machine.
