Next level racing HF8

I followed the same Video and startet first the sim and set in the cockpit and than I started the the HFS app bot its not working for me so far.

HFS8 Still workst great with MSFS and the free software Simshaker aviation. No need to send it back😎

After starting the HFS, check Task Manager/Details. If MSplugin is running, hit “End Task” for it. Then shut down HFS (including in the Task Bar} and restart HFS. Select the sim in HFS, and it should be working.

I started all over and re-installed the software. Now I get “server not responding” error that pops up when I first try to run the software. Click on it a few times, and the error goes away. Click on “Home”. and I have to wait while it populates. It still says “N/A” in the upper right corner of the block. I then click on MSFS. I then went to task manager/details but MSplugin is not running. If I go to the tray and close HFS, it’s still running in task manager/details. I then end the task in task manager/details and start MSFS,
Once MSFS is running, I load a plane and go to the runway. I then go back to the desktop (win-D) and right click the HFS shortcut and “run as administrator”. Go back into the plane and bring up HSF from the tray - and it works! I guess the key might be to use the task manager to truly shut down HSF so you can start MSFS. Buggy software for sure,

Nice work, I will try it in accordance to you post. Thanks

I also found out that when HFS is launched, it not only launches the APP HSF, but also launches MSplugin as Wobbliest mensioned earlier. You need to “end task” on both those programs.

I also noticed that the software does not respond to changing the setting very well. I had flaps set to LL & LR and it was not working at all. After changing the settings a few time and using other trasducers, it finnaly took. The software does not seem to hold the settings very well. Gforce worked very well with the settings set to LL, LR, HR, HL.

I will keep messing with it, but the software really sucks as it is very buggy.

Anyone notice that the “USB Mode” light in the software never comes on even though it is using USB to operate the transducers.

Eck that sounds like fairly simple things they should have sorted before release. Or at least quickly patch up to not require jumping through a specific sequence of hoops just to get it to talk to the game it “supports”.

So you have to do that every time you change planes in the same sim session?

@Turk123sky well done for discovering that workaround. Would you be willing to email them your discovery in the vain hope it helps them fix the issue more quickly?

I’m no expert, but I think once you disable the MSplugin, you’re good for that session.

Been considering the HF8 after watching several video reviews and wonder if it would be a significant upgrade to the buttkicker. I use the buttkicker gammer plus with the Hapticonnect software for MSFS. Has anyone used both and compared them?

Mine is the opposite. It says “on” in the software even when the knob module is turned off.

hi, did you made a review? What are your thoughts?

Sorry but that makes no sense or I am missing something. You start the HFS , open the task manager and close the MSplugin, now you close the HFS and restart it. That brings you back where you startet, with the MSplugin open??? Every time I start HFS MSFSplugin openes too. Please let me know if I am wrong and miss anything. Thank you

Here is what I do, and it seems to work.

  1. Start HFS and set your “settings” (Engine, flaps, Gforce, etc), and if you want, you can save the “profile” on your computer.
  2. Shut down HFS. I do this from the tray. Hover over the tray icon and click on the “X” on the icon.
  3. Go to task manager in your windows and click on “details”.
  4. Look for HSF and end the task.
  5. Look for MSFplugin and end it also (if it’s there).
  6. Start MSFS 2020
  7. Choose your plane and starting location.
  8. Go to the desktop (Window key - D) and start HSF shortcut and "Run as administrator " then click on “Home” in the HSF software.
  9. Carefully wait for the server to connect and ALL of the Icons to populate. Don’t just click on MSFS when it appears. When all have loaded, click on the MSFS icon.
  10. Now that HSF is running, go back to MSFS and begin the flight.
  11. All subsequent flights should also work, and as long as MSFS is running, the HFS software should keep working.
  12. When finished flying, leave MSFS and then go to task manager/details and end task on HFS and MSFplugin.

Can someone try this on their computer to see if the directions I’ve written work for you?

Also, I get a “server error” when I start HSF. I have to click on “installed” twice (in “home”) to get the screen to populate with the software icons. Wait patiently for all the icons to show up. This can take up to 30 seconds.

The reply I got from Next Level Racing:

Hi Thomas

Thank you for contacting Next Level Racing, it is greatly appreciated.

I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues using the HFS Software.

Our development team is working hard on a software update that will address our back-end server issues. We are looking to release a new build for further testing within 24 hours.

The HFS Software is complementary with the HF8 Gaming Pad. However, you are not limited to using that software. SimHub is a popular application used for Buttkickers, Haptic pads and more.

And he goes on about how to install Simhub. I like the part about saying the software is complimentary with their HF8!!!

From their website:

But all this closing / opening software and task manager force quitting of plugins is nothing to do with their servers, unless it is?!

I watched the review by Sim Hanger chap and he didn’t seem to have any of these problems. I wonder if it’s not affecting every installation and you guys have just been unlucky?

I’m still contemplating asking for this as my birthday gift but this clunk is certainly making me think twice.

Thanks for reporting your discoveries though @Turk123sky

Nice try, but stilĺ doesn’t work for me with MSFS.(i am on windows 11 with MSFS store version)
Simhub works, but not with MSFS…

I got the server error also, but a simple logout en login again solved that for me.
Support said to me that DCS still needs more work (6 weeks to go). They pointed me to Simshaker avionics for problems with MSFS, but i already use that program for MSFS (and DCS)

Are you sure you are in USB mode? Click and hold the big red button till it turns color (solid green to red) and not flashing white.

I also have Windows 11 and store version MSFS.
