Next Pilot Position action causes SIM to freeze (PC & Xbox)

For me NPP will only freeze if you have freelook toggle active, and then only if it’s bound to middle mouse. I have it on right mouse, so I have no freelook hold.

Understood.

Well I think folks have got enough information on this one now and enough options to work around it. As another post said ‘exhausting’. It’s like they accurately simulate the endless work required to deal with defects and keep real aircraft safe and flying.

I don’t remember seeing in the release notes for SU6 or SU7 any bullet point s indicating they had improved mouse controls. So I don’t understand what they messed with it at all. The only thing I wanted them to remove was the negative mouse acceleration.

hi i want to confirm that your workaround works 100 percent didn’t get any freezing of sim when i unbound the NPP action from xbox controller its a bug that they need to address in upcoming hotfix or sim update.

i flew for 3 hrs without any freezing issue whereas yesterday sim just completely stopped responding and frozen with only sound playing in background when i used NPP action on my xbox controller

Good stuff. Happy freeze-free flying!

The workaround does not work for me on the PC. I have completely unbound NPP but my Sim still freezes randomly when moving views, especially on LSZH and LFMN.

This too. Yes very annoying now after SU7. Press right mouse button to hold zoom position. Doesn’t matter the sim locks up anyway when changing views around. Waiting for patch

This is happening to me, too, and it’s pretty danged frustrating because it takes so long to reboot the game and get back to where I was when it happened. Unfortunately, I use the next/previous cockpit position keys a lot while I’m flying (bound to my T16000 hat switch), so it’s been hard to re-train my thumb not to hit those buttons.

I hope they get a fix for it in the game soon!

Edit. To add to this, I unmapped all other functions that had been added to my joystick’s hat switch by the latest update, and it’s still crashing my game)

Confirming that this is happening to me. Drove me up a tree until this thread helped me figure out why it was happening. Pressing “next cockpit view” on my yoke caused an immediate freeze. I disabled both “next view” and “previous view” and it seems to have solved the immediate problem. But certainly a bug, new to SU7, that needs to be fixed.

This is still an issue in the hotfix beta!

Same issue here. Steam addition on my PC

Kind of surprised that only 51 ppl voted on this…

Spot on. My experience exactly

Deleted mods and still occuring.

I have had a bug where the game crashes when I use the dpad thingy on my Logitech Extreme 3D PRO flight stick. I use it to change my camera view in the cockpit. I call this bug the next pilot position bug.

If you have a flight stick or controller, to produce this issue try changing the next pilot position to see if the game freezes.

Logitech Extreme 3D Pro flight controller.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6Gb
IntelCore i5 6600K 3.5 GHz

Before update game would run smooth 45-60 fps

1.21.13.0 Version of the game. Release of this update 18th of November 2021.

Having the same issue, for me it seems to freeze when changing views with my hotas after using the freelook with the mouse.

Same thing for me, when changing the view it freezes the screen … and sometimes it’s the mouse that freezes.

Having the same issue

Update: I got the MFS2020 to work when I changed the port where the controller was connected. So it’s evidence that the controller can crash your game.
I hope everyone is going to get the simulator to work. Thank you for all your replies.

There is a post with a wider range adressing this issue

Definitely seeing the same hang during quick view switches. For me on PC with Xbox controller flying using LB-DPAD for quick view switches. FS often hangs and needs to be killed / restarted. If i do the flight without using quick view switches, the flight seems to work fine
