Niagara Falls is a mess

Great, ruined for all, scratch one Niagara Falls.

Slowly destroying the sim, like the Grand Canyon, when I started flying in 2023 it was amazing, now it’s a giant sand box.

Or Chaco canyon, another great USA disaster area.

Don’t forget all the new CTDs and needless thermal shutdowns when the XboxX isn’t even warmed up yet.

Maybe we can start destroying Europe next.

Easy to screw up, impossible to fix- Microsoft.

I edited my post to clarify that this is the jeppeson2001-niagara-falls in FS2024. I did see that this package is on sale for $7 over at flightsim.to for the next 5 days.

If you didn’t see the conversation between @WaterLattice34 comparing this FS2020 product in FS2024 prior that would be confusing.

I have attempted to reach out to the creator for the jeppeson2001-niagara-falls and determine if there was a version on the books specially for FS2024 but no luck…

It was the best scenery enhancement (for me) in FS2020. I put the scenery package in my FS2024 community folder and gave it a whirl. I can and will certainly live with this over what is stock in FS2024 any day.

This is default sim niagara falls with 800 Tlod, and 400 OLod shot with the ingame camera from distance
Just Photogrammetry no buildings, treesplant, rocks or grass these i set all to -1.
This is from higher altitude, but if closing the water levels gets disrupted

As to my former post i have been experiment with devmode under options menu, here you find
Ground options with its submenu “enable terrraforming” which shows huge difference in height
If ticked on or off

On

Off

and here a shrt video from distance with on off

Hope this provide some contribution to this topic

Interesting. It is on by default. This is terraforming on:

And terraforming off:

I am using Jeppeson’s scenery. With terraforming off the water elevation issue is mostly solved. However floating objects remain around the city.

Hi there @WaterLattice34

Sorry for my understanding
But these floating objects around the city you mention meaning like loose things in the sky
or something, i do not think i know where to look for these.
I use default scenery strictly photogrammetry like, but if you mean the boat docks like the green blue one on the left in your 2nd picture, than i guess this is the jeppeson scenery.
Maybe disconnect this addon temporary to see if it solves it.
Or maybe set higher shadow maps (i know you can up this one in usercfg.opt to the max of 8160) or maybe like contact shadows to see if it gets better, as a tweak for this area flying scenario.

I posted screenshots above in post# 32. People, vehicles and even some parts of buildings float with Jeppeson scenery in both 2020 and 2024.

I don’t think there is any way to fix in the sims settings. It’s a mess Asobo created. Before FS2020 SU16, all was almost perfect….in FS2020.

Water elevation issues are the same in both 2020 and 2024 with or without Jeppeson, but much worse in2020.
