Night Lighting Makes This a Game Not A Sim

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: I looked out my window and it is pitch black yet it is broad daylight in the sim. Did flight at 02.30am and I could see for miles it was like the moon was nuclear powered.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)? The last 40 years. MSFS has never ever had night lighting that comes anywhere close to being realistic.

Maybe it is also because monitors can’t depict well what a real night looks like.
I like the 2024 night better because you can actually fly at night now and see stuff. In 2020 I never did night flying, I hope they leave if like it is.

I have a HDR monitor and it looks pretty good, mostly. No one can really comment properly if they don’t have HDR because as you say, monitors don’t have a good enough range.
Comparing satellite photos with city light looks pretty comparable too. I see where the “sepia mask” comes from now.
Ther only issues I really see are:

  1. Lights way too high in the sky
  2. Cant see some airports runways lights through the ultra bright taxi lights.

You didn’t need to open a bug to say MS has bad night lighting. I disagree, the night lighting looks realistic, but not as nice as 2020. I wouldn’t call that a bug.
