I agree that all the acronyms and features Nvidia introduces does get confusing.

You might want to give DLDSR + DLSS a shot, as per this thread:

I’m on 1400p with a 5800x3d + 3080ti and I’m very happy with DLDSR x1.78 and DLSS Balanced. Good framerate (over 60fps unless at a busy airport) and the softness of DLSS on instrument displays is mitigated.
