I’ve just got the motion platform and it’s set up for Asobo’s Cabri G2 helicopter.
It’s setup only in a basic way - as far as my understanding of all the variables in the NLR Platform Manager allows. Is anyone familar with the setup process?
In the NLR Platform Manager there’s a Motion window where there are lots of sliders that can be adjusted. Each of these has a name e.g. Body Roll (Intermittent) and Body Pitch (Intermittent). NLR explain what these mean in a way I think I understand (I’m a real helicopter pilot and know all about pitch and roll). But with each name there are three available adjustments called Gain, Sharpness and On Gound. I’m not at all clear about what these titles mean. I’ve guessed as best I can but I’m not confident that my settings are correct.
Does anyone know?
Brian
I have a V3. Gain improves the strength of effects, Sharpness governs the roughness or smoothness of the effect and on ground increases or decreases the amount of effect with ground movement. I suggest starting with the gain altering it while taxiing to see the effect strength, then play with the other sliders. You can always press default if you`re not happy and go back to try again.

Thanks. “strength”, what exactly do you mean? e.g. do you mean the number of degrees of chair movement for each degree of cyclic movement? Or how fast the chair moves in degrees per second compared to my cyclic movement? And the same for roughness and smoothness - are you referring to speed or amount of chair movement?
I’ve been playing around for too long adjusting things in flight and hover-taxiing in ground effect and I still can’t relate any changes observed on the NLR platform movement to the adjustments I’m making.
Strength is the fierceness of the effect over the same distance of travel. Referring to speed for and feel for the others. I`ve had an NLR platform since they first came out and my current V3 stills works great with no play in the components. It does however need a lot of fettling just like my Pimax Chrystal to get the right parameters. Once reached though it is worth the hassle.
