No buildings in the Lake Constance area

Good evening, I have a problem with the MSFS 2024, SU2. In the area of Lake Constance (South Germany, East Switzerland and West Austria) I suddenly have no more buildings (e.g. I fly from Memmingen towards Lake Constance; at the beginning everything is top, then suddenly no more buildings, as if there was a line. This was still OK at lunchtime today. My first suspicion was the City Update 11 from this afternoon. I deactivated it, but unfortunately the problem was still there. Then I emptied the Cummunity folder but no solution either. Cleared all cache, error still there. My PC (Win 11 Pro, RTX4090, i9-13900K, 64 RAM), all drivers and programs up to date. Have any of you noticed this or do you have any suggestions for me? Here is a picture of what I mean: in the upper half everything is tip-top. In the lower half you can only see the buildings in 2D.

Hi @DoneDoubloon884 ,

Thank you for this report. We’ve moved your topic into the User Support Hub.

Omg, I thought I was going crazy, I noticed the same today. I fly out of Altenrhein airport quite frequently and noticed the entire area was “flat” without autogen. Constanz is fine but everything else around the lake and up to Mollis Airport in the alps has no autogen. Real shame, I hope a fix is coming soon.

I automatically checked with a new graphics driver, with and without community content, new rollingcache file, shaders deleted, etc. No luck.

I’m glad I’m not the only one with this problem!
Short update: after some tests I found a temporary solution: I deactivated the image measurement under Online, then the buildings became visible again in the said Bodensee area. But this only affects this area - no matter where else I fly in the world I have no problems with missing buildings and image measurement switched on. That’s crazy…
In this screenshot (online image measurement on) you can once again see the difference very clearly: perfect with buildings on the left - no buildings on the right.

this is roughly the area with the problem.

I checked your setting with Photogrammetry turned off and, like you stated, all buildings reappeared. It seems the autogen is conflicting with photogrammetry that isn’t there (perhaps due to an impending update?).

Thank you for the feedback! I hope this gets ironed out quickly.

I can confirm the problem and the solution. Thank you very much for the fix.

I can confirm the problem.
Also I thought I was going crazy… few days ago I had a flight around the area of LSZX Schanis Airfield where the mountains are really great in the new terrain photogrammetry but yesterday I just noticed no houses are generated anymore.

Although in this picture the image is not that good (is a screen capture from an area I was flying where the houses are visible and existing few days ago. The city in here is Niederurner close to the Walensee lake close (a bit South) of lake Constance OP reported.

Now you can clearly see even in pre flight map that only the trees are loading and cast shadows and houses are just the pictures from satellite. Same city for example but the area is large as previous posters reported.

This bug is possible to be linked with the resolution of this bug here?

Meaning users reported the autogen buildings where conflicting with photogrammetry ones and maybe the solution for this previous bug created this new one?

I (personally) tried to clear caches in MSFS user folder ( here: C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\cache ) and in Steam folder (I have Steam variant) from here in my case: ( D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Limitless\cache) , I cleared scenes indexes (from here: C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\SceneryIndexes), cleared rolling cache file. I tried to uninstall and stream the World and City updates for Germany and Switzerland with no success of stopping the bug.

Like others said turning off Photogrammetry makes houses reappear. Of course this solution is not at all ideal.

This also happening in SU3 beta:

It is definetly a regression bug and seems to affect all versions of FS24, so should be moved to the bug report hub or merged with an existing report, if one exists.

I can confirm here on my system (MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe (V1.5.17.0)) and for region Lake of Constance, Friedrichshafen etc.

This is still an issue! Photogrammetry is not working in southern germany near lake constance (e.g. near EDNL)

FYI, see this bug topic, currently feedback-logged
