There is no comparison. I am throwing the towel in. I want a refund!
meh1951 I absolutely agree with you i cannot see much or any difference in the quality 2024 looks like 2020 I think its all been about the big Bucks microsoft flight simulator are taking from us and not giving us what we paid for. this whole thing is making me SICK. asobo and microsoft dont do anything to make sure this was perfect. when I hear Jorg Nuemann few weeks ago he said Its FANTASTIC and its Ready to go. ready to go into a Disaster more like.
To me there is tons of difference beyond the visuals (which obviously also changed, especially at nighttime and close to ground), but if you don’t feel like it’s worth for you it’s fine.
In msfs 2024, you can see flowers when you’re on the ground, even if there are no flowers in november. But when flying, the ground looks ugly.
Where are THE new HIGH RESOLUTION Bing maps ???
Career mode, EFB are big advancements. Flight visuals very comparable with 2020 so far, absolutely. Still…amazing…
Totally agree. The new graphics seem designed for people walking around on the ground, not actually flying. For example, the new trees on the ground are great; they definitely look better than in 2020. But as soon as you’re in the air above a few hundred feet and the textures are replaced, they’re actually worse than their 2020 counterparts.
Given the current problems with the planes as well, perhaps we should abandon this as a flight simulator and rebrand it Microsoft Walking Simulator 2024?
There are no high res Bing maps, it’s all old outdated stuff like always. Plus a little fyi, Bing uses the same images google uses, only Bing updates them once every 5 or so years
Did you muck about with the seasonal settings? Lots of people are sharing comparison shots of the 2 sims forgetting that FS2024 puts a seasonal colour cast over the terrain which changes massively through the seasons.
The FS2024 shots in your examples do look more photorealistic, to my eye.
The other things people need to consider is that there’s currently serious terrain caching issues that need to be worked out. In the areas I’ve flown where it has been working well FS2024 is in a totally different league to FS2020. The FS2024 lighting designer deserves an Oscar in my opinion. Its incredible lighting design.
So far, the sim has been working pretty well for me. I did experience a CTD with the iniBuilds A330 when trying to load a STAR into the MCDU, but it seems like that’s an aircraft bug more so than a sim issue itself.
Other than that, I’ve had a pretty positive experience. The sim runs quite a bit better than 2020 and looks nicer as well. My main concern right now, however, is the encryption of assets which will limit/prohibit the community’s ability to mod the sim. I really hope we here more about that soon.
The more I explore and the more I read about others experiences, the more I think the msfs 2024 was just a a big money grab.
I do not care about looking at the flowers closely, it is FLIGHT SIMULATOR, not zoo or garden simulator.
get the flight models and visuals for FLIGHT first.
Very disappointed as thousands of others.
Late on day two when I finally got in, I got into the Vision Jet and took off from SeaTac and was underwhelmed. Then I tried from San Diego, and still, meh. I refunded my Aviator-level purchase and ultimately decided to get the Premium Deluxe level, but it’s not what we saw in all the trailers, that’s for sure.
And it wasn’t just MSAsobo, but a lot of content creators said this would blow 2020 out of the water - but not yet, from what I’ve seen.
Dramatically better looking sim on my end. Trailers are trailers. I’m also on a 1080 so I really didn’t expect it to look like the trailers on my machine.
Join the club! My refund is still processing, looking forward to it!
I’ll happily return if stuff is fixed, especially the VR bugs and unstable/inconsistent VR performance. I also hope they let us choose which planes to download too at some point, because the cockpits look a lot better and clearer in 2020.
Yeah, if you don’t care about the missions and such or the huge advances in flight modelling and flight planning (when it works) then FS 2024 isn’t really doing anything for you.
A lot of us sim in different ways so that is fine and fair.
For me though, I can’t stand the though of going back to 2020. Well, the bugs make me want to sometimes. But 2020 was the same when it was released so I’ll be patient.
I can load in and starts flying in well under 3 minutes and 2020 can’t emulate that. I like that a lot. And now I know what triggers the nastier bugs I can usually avoid them.
