No fix coming for the "legacy missions"?

Hi - for the 40th anniversary edition, we were supposed to get legacy missions from earlier FS versions ported over into MSFS. However, they’re a complete mess - literally none of them are quality that should have been released, many of them can’t even be completed.

Getting concerned because discussion on the current (poor) state of these missions was completely absent from the Dev Q&A.

Are these just getting completely written off? I really hope not - I was looking forward to these, and am extremely disappointment with what was delivered.

I was really looking forward to the Hawaii one… such fond memories of the original which had so much character with the voiceover directions.

I was extremely disappointed when the version included in the 40th anniversary is not even close to a port and turned out to be just another bush trip.

From my experience over the last 2.5 years with FS-2020:
I think we will get a fix.

BUT:
It will take it’s time.
Maybe a year or more.

Currently the Bushtrips (which use the same technology as the missions) suffer from 2 bugs:

  • Navlog resets when closing / opening (bug is over a year old)
  • Continuing a Bushtrip after going to the Main menu, the flight starts at the same time as the initial leg (bug get’s introduced with SUX)

My best advice for you:
Look at the route of the mission, and fly it from the world map.

I would have to agree, disappointing. The new legacy missions are bundled amongst the Bush Trips and are not even labelled as missions so what was the point.

Thanks for your feedback. The team knows there are issues with some of the new legacy missions, and they are working to improve them! I don’t have any sort of ETA of when that will happen unfortunately.

Some?
I have not found one which is bug free.

Sorry to say that.

Based on my playthrough and feedback on missions in the broader thread, I’d argue the problems with the missions far exceed only some issues to be bug fixed. It looks like they weren’t even properly ported for the most part!

I honestly don’t know how they tried to do these, but it feels strongly like they were ported by a bunch of interns who had no knowledge of what they were doing.

I’d attempt to do a few of these myself, does anyone know about the popup that keeps appearing re: not building missions in this version?

Thanks,
Scott

At least the new Glider training missions can be completed. It’s a shame that the ground looks like water painting on my Xbox (all online data switched on).

I would pay for nicely done, voiced missions , with some context (cutscenes, voiced narration, maybe some pictures).

I seem to remember a mission from long ago where you had to land a float plane in the jungle and locate a camp. These “missions” now just look like another bush trip to me. I gave up trying to complete any of those activities after they kept resetting like I had never done them after updates.

Since last evening (Eastern Time, USA), the game will not even start now… been trying for so long, I forgot why I was evening trying to get into it. (It was for some “checking” of something, maybe not an actual flight).

Now? Nothing, it goes through the motions, and just dies.

I can recommend this mission ported from FSX (for free):
FSX Mission: Whiteout » Microsoft Flight Simulator

This is how Missions should be in my opinion.
