I completed a flight from Kelowna (CYLW) to Vancouver (CYVR) just over an hour ago and live weather certainly seemed pretty much what I saw outside the window in Abbotsford (between the two). The weather did change somewhat along the route and the winds definitely changed: was typically around 20+kts somewhere between 180 and 280° for the whole flight. Pretty much on the nose all the way…
Leaving Kelowna: not TOO bad
It got worse though:
So I went higher: all the way up to 10,000ft.
And I picked up some ice: was around -5°C at 7,000ft, -11 at 10,000ft.
Was nice above the cloud
Pretty grim coming into YVR
Was good to get on the ground!
