I mainly fly airliners like PMDG 777, Fenix A320, iniBuilds A350, FBW A380.
My target is to get “optimized” performance for iniBuilds A350 in iniBuilds OMDB Enhanced scenery at 4K. This is a resource heavy scenario and everything else will more or less be less taxing than the combination of these two.
Refresh rate set to 120Hz, VSync set to ON in NVIDIA App.
I upgraded from 3080 10GB to 5070 Ti 16GB because I was limited by GPU in MSFS 2024 due to former GPU. Upgrading to 16GB doesn’t really help. Default planes are Okayish.
I tried to enable 3x or 4x Framegen via NVIDIA app but I am not sure how to “verify” that 3x or 4x is indeed enabled.
So, iniBuilds A350 and iniBuilds OMDB gives me between 20-30 fps on TAA and no framegen. Maybe 30-35 fps with Framegen 2x but the camera movement is so laggy and jittery even with FSR which gives 50 fps. Even if I choose lowest resolution or set everything to “low”, I see absolutely no effect on fps or frametime which hovers between 30-40 fps. Also, CPU utilization is around 40%, not 100% as suspected.
A lot of people are getting such stable performance in MSFS 2024 but I am absolutely stumped now. Should I change the CPU? Does my motherboard need to change?
Your RTX 5070 Ti is similar in performance to an RTX 4080 Super. Even the 4080 struggles with true 4K performance in MSFS 2024 without relying on DLSS or Frame Gen. So if the 4080 can’t handle it properly, your 5070 Ti definitely isn’t powerful enough for smooth 4K in this sim, no matter what Nvidia claims.
You’re running an i5 12600, which I had a few years ago myself. After that, I used an i7 12700K, then a i9 13900K, followed by a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and now I’m on a Ryzen 7 9800X3D so I think you get the point.
i5 12600 it’s not a bad CPU but for MSFS 2024 or MSFS 2020 especially with heavy stuff like the iniBuilds A350 at OMDB - it’s starting to show its limits.
And seriously, don’t waste time chasing YouTube “performance miracles” or magic tweaks. There is no Holy Grail of optimization in MSFS. Anyone claiming otherwise is just selling illusions.
Also, MSFS 2024 SU2 isn’t really suitable for testing GPU performance right now because the performance is just unstable. If you want a proper baseline, test your GPU in MSFS 2020 (non-beta), where performance is more consistent.
Bottom line: play at 1440p, not 4K. Wait for 2024 SU3. And if you want real gains, consider upgrading to something like the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. That’s where the difference will be.
edit
I’m generally against disabling Resizable BAR or G-Sync because they usually help performance and smoothness. However, it seems like there’s something off with some Nvidia 50XX series cards or maybe with Nvidia drivers or even monitor/TV firmware.
In addition to TenPatrol’s good suggestions above, as a 5070Ti owner who needs 4k to drive my HDTV, may I suggest that you give DLSS/Quality a try with the most recent NVIDIA drivers for the 5070Ti? Until these most recent drivers, I was flying exclusively on TAA, finding DLSS not acceptable. That has now changed, and it has made a difference in frame rates and smooth performance. That said, I do not own the A350 and while I do appreciate the challenge that folks face with that model from many user reports, I do not know if running DLSS/Quality in a current driver for the 5070Ti will be your solution as only you can give us that report. Cheers!
I don’t use FG. I do use DLSS and DLAA and limit my FPS to 30. And I run in 4K. In my case I get smooth performance with those settings and I have everything set to ULTRA with the exception of terrain resolution and trees which are set on high.
I realize some are looking to get the highest FPS possible. I do too when testing between betas. But the trick for me for smoothness is to limit my FPS. I have also tried 2K but didn’t notice enough of a difference to justify keeping that setting.

Ten patrol is a genius on these topics compared to me, and agree with everything they say, especially around CPU which is the main topic of your discussion.
Apart from the part about 4k with a 4080 / 5070 GPU. I run MSFS 2024 in 4k in TAA and 100% render with a 4070 Super. I fly airliners and get around 42fps before I cap them at half my refresh rate. So 4k can be done. The only issue I have with 4k is the VRAM usage but I’m guessing your 5070 has more than my 12GB?
4K with medium settings provides way more immersion for me, compared to 2k with ultra settings for example.
