No New Topic button in a forum I need to post in

I need to post in this forum:

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/tag/flybywire-simulation

But when I go there, there is no New Topic Button available.

Can a mod fix this for me?

Cheers

It looks like you are doing a directory listing from a tag. Some tags will take you to an area that only 3RDP Developers can post in.

Pick a subcategory in 3RDP that is not #third-party-addon-discussion:product-announcements

Use a subcategory in #third-party-addon-discussion:aircraft

Thanks for your help.

Who knows. I hate the way these forums work.

I have a fault to report on the A320 FlyByWire (FBW). I search the forums for that and it takes me to a place I cannot post. How utterly useless and unhelpful.

I still don’t see how I ever find the correct place to post. This hasn’t happened to me before - not being able to post.

If you are reporting a bug, you need to contact that developer directly as the forum isn’t support for 3RDP Developers.

OK Ta

Cheers

I could post from this page:

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/tags/c/third-party-addon-discussion/aircraft/217/flybywire-simulation

I think I know what happened. When you went to search, you may have accidentally searched by tag instead of topics/posts, which would have led you to that search result:

Your mouse or finger may have accidentally nudged the drop-down away from this:

With that said, yes, if you want to report a bug, the best place to do it is on the developer’s support channels. People are allowed to discuss third-party bugs and workarounds in the forums, but third parties are not allowed to provide technical support here.

Thanks so much. Yes that works.

Thanks for that. I’ve used computers and forums since the '80s, but I must say I find these forums most unhelpful in many ways. No threading for a start. Really? Just a mess of messages which you pretty much have to read in a chronological linear manner, with little flow based on conversation. And many other weaknesses.

These things shouldn’t be difficult.

I’m sorry to hear that. The forums are not written by Microsoft; it is a commercial off-the-shelf product. I will add the tag #forum-feedback to your post, but unless the team were to decide to switch forum software, I’m afraid there isn’t much that can be done about that.

Thanks for at least trying.

I use these type of forums for other products too, not just Microsoft, and they are among the worst I’ve ever experienced.

And I am very much not computer illiterate.

They are not all bad. For instance, it’s very easy to post picture content. But it’s almost impossible to follow a specific thread of conversation, which is mostly what I want to do.
