Are you using a Nvidia Graphics card? What are your shadow settings in game? Bravo to the rain returning!
yes I have NVIDIA GPU
in game setting are as follow
shadow maps 1536
terrain shadows 512
contact shadows HIGH
I have no idea of the meaning and effect of those setting.
before SU5 clouds cast shadow on terrain (weather preset few clouds). it was obvious.
ok,
whatever the setting, there is no cloud shadow with weather preset âfew cloudsâ, however, I have ground shadow with preset âscattered cloudsâ.
strange that I had shadow before with âfew cloudsâ, I mainly use this one.
well, even with âscattered cloudsâ the shadows are not obvious after flying for a while.
not as good as before.
Alright, thanks for your reply! Let me ask you, is it at all possible to try turning terrain shadows up to 1024, or youâve tried that already when you say whatever setting? Honestly, I donât see very pronounced shadows with scattered but with broken they are there but depends on what angle the sun is at it also makes a difference how high the tops are. Iâm using 1024 terrain and 2048 maps currently. Where I notice heavy cloud shadows is when I fly where there are scattered thunderstorms which is true to life being that the moisture in the clouds prevents light from getting through plus the tops are above 30,000 feet. There should still be light shadow there with scattered clouds just not so pronounced or dark. I mean, little white cotton puffs scattered about donât tend to generate a lot of shadow until they come closer together or carry more moister with darker bottoms. Is it possible that you can share a screenshot? Maybe test at high noon summer for max affect?
You can also try the following before testing again if you wish.
Go to This PC and right click on C drive and click properties. Click on Disk Cleanup. Uncheck everything this go-around but then look at Direct X Shader Cache and check that box, make sure it is the only one checked! Click Ok and let it do its thing. Now, next we want to clean the shader cache for NVIDIA, given that you have Shader Cache turned on under Global Setting in NVIDIA control panel. Go to the following directory on your main system drive: C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation\NV_Cache and now hit Left Ctrl + A when focused in the NV_Cache folder window and hit delete then clear recycle bin if you need to. Reboot PC and run a test flight and see how shadowing is rendering.
thanks,
but now it looks ok after hotfix2
Regards.
