No section for Q&A questions - but I have one, and I'm sure others have too

So you decided to select ten topics internally, but I am pretty sure many users would like to hear specific information about what to expect with regards to long standing Bugs- and Wishlist items for the remainder of MSFS 2020 or MSFS 2024. As my emphasis lies with Live Weather, i’d have the following question:

In Sept. '21 (Q&A from Sept. 29) you (Jorg Neumann) said: “Weather for us is a Big Deal. It is something we are heavily, heavily investing in. I think with Meteoblue we have a great partner. Late this year you will get this first Update (remark: SU7), we’re planning on another which will be really awesome when it happens. It will probably be in 2022, it could be as late as 2023. Weather is one of those things. It’s where planes live, it’s got to be awesome. We will get it as good as you can get it. That is really the goal.”

This further update never happened. Instead it took you until 2023 to get liveWeather back to reasonable (without TCU everywhere) after SU7.
However, back in Nov. 2022 you (Neumann) announced talks with Meteoblue about data resolution (snow coverage!), WXradar API and “future features” and promised to inform about the outcome in early 2023 - which also never happened.
Instead the Q&A in May '23 delivered some vague statements hinting at opening the weather API for third parties, which was sacrosanct from the beginning, followed by the announcement of tornadoes in MSFS 2024 shortly after.

There are numerous threads dealing with Live Weather issues, and several threads dealing with other Atmosphere and Environment related issues. So the question is:

What can we expect in regards to the community feedback from Live Weather in MSFS2024 ?

This is my emphasis, but there are other long standing Bugs- and Wishlist topics, and my perception is that there’s some dissatisfaction amongst the community about the communication regarding the transition from MSFS2020 to MSFS2024. So maybe you’ll reconsider the decision to limit the upcoming Q&A and allow the community to bring up the topics they feel imperative right now especially as the last chance to ask questions was in May, well before MSFS 2024 was announced.

Well said and I fully agree. Someone needs to remind Jorg about that statement and question him about it. Sadly, I think there is a less than 1% chance that will happen.

The only questions that get answers in these PR Q&A sessions, are the ones whose answers MS/Asobo want to pass on to the community.

It’s called “Marketing”, and as such you can either find it frustrating or entertaining, but seldom is it technically informative, except on a very superficial level.

And why should it be any other way. ??
.. any advanced information shared with the customer, is a Bonus, and should be considered to be much more than could typically be expected to be shared with the community.

What is really of interest is what does NOT get discussed.

In court, an attorney never asks a question he doesn’t know the answer to because he wants to control what the jury hears. Not knowing the answer might elicit testimony from the witness that would be unfavorable to his case.

Same seems to go for these Twitch Q&A sessions.

Hi,
Yes agreed the Q&A sessions from the past have been very marketing orientated, when there’s been tough questions they come across as not understanding the question or swerve it completely. It’s like they don’t want to portray anything “bad” with the Sim, which is understandable but frustrating from a users perspective.

One thing that’s been blatantly missing is the ability in these Q&As to have follow up questions and the ability for users to ask them directly, Jayne does a good job but she does not fully understand some questions herself which is where the user asking would be better. Instead we get the shrug of shoulders from Jorg and it’s onto the next question.

I am disappointed they’ve cherry picked questions for this Q&A, will any of them be about the obvious issues with the Sim? Or as above will it all be able the “good” and hype with MSFS2024 whilst avoiding the real issues like Tile Loading, METAR not working, poor ATC, poor photogrammetry in areas etc etc

I applaud the fact they do have these Q&As, but there’s times they’re better off saying nothing, I still have nightmares the time Jorg literally laughed off the idea of a METAR Option in the Sim after the SU7 integration - of which two years on is still riddled with issues - those are the issues that need tackling in these Q&As.
Thank you

To address the concerns raised here, firstly the team have been diligently looking at feedback from the community on a variety of topics. Unfortunately we do not have enough time during the Developer Livestream to answer every single question posted, and so have 10 topics already selected for Seb, Jorg, and Martial to discuss as already mentioned by Jayne. There will be an opportunity for questions to be asked via the Twitch chat during the course of the session if it has not already been covered in one of the ten topics already selected.

Whilst I understand that you may be seeking answers on a very technical level or on a very specific topic, please keep in mind that there is the possibility of a variety of reasons as to why specific details may not yet be able to be discussed further publicly at this current time. Whilst that may be disappointing, we ask that you respect any decisions to not specify details on particular topics.

We hope the Developer Livestream on September 27th provides further insight for you all, and we are always open to constructive comments on how we can improve this process.

Thanks,
The MSFS Team
