No Sound in FS2024

Going to throw another thread on the giant cacophony right now. I have no sound in FS2024. I’m using 1More SonoFlow Bluetooth headphones. They work normally in all other apps, FS2020 and Windows. But when I start Flight Simulator 2024 all sound in Windows is turned off, including from other background apps. Things I’ve tried:

  • Volume Mixer is all the way up

  • Changed the Sound device in Flight Simulator 2024’s settings, and restarted Flight Simulator:

  • Made the headphones the default device in Windows and disabled all other sound devices in the control panel, confirming sound still works in other apps

  • Rebooted and restarted again

The music I’m playing in the background resumes as soon as I close Flight Simulator 2024.

The sound device in Flight Simulator 2024 was initially set to “System’s default device”, which I suspected was changing Windows’ audo output entirely, hence why other apps stopped playing sound too. It took me several times to get this setting change to stick, which was just dandy when you had to 90 minutes in a queue, only to see that the setting change didn’t take effect. The setting appears to be sticking now, but still no sound.

I’m having the same issue with Apple AirPod pros. No sound. I tried everything too. It works in 2020 but not 2024 wtf

Do those also have a built-in Bluetooth microphone? I’m speculating that Flight Simulator might be trying to use the microphone and this is killing the device’s audio output.

Another thing I just remembered that may or may not be interesting, but I vaguely recall the game having sound during one of the initial setup runs. I don’t think I was wearing my headphones at the time because I was just going through the config. But after closing the simulator, I noticed there was still music playing in the background. It was like the Flight Simulator 2024 process was still running even though the app appeared to have closed. I don’t think I’ve have had sound since, and have had a few issues trying to shut the simulator down too. The process hangs and I sometimes have to kill it in the task manager.

Ya has microphone. My regular big headset set work that r connected to blue yeti work but not my Bluetooth headphones. Aka apple air pods pro

I don’t have issue with 2020. So I’m confused. 2024 has hanged for me too and had to force close

@BMWKing2020 I fixed this, and suspect the fix might work for you. FS2024 Settings → General → Online → Voice chat input device

Change it to something other than the airpods or system default. That enabled sound for me in the game. I think the game is attempting to use the bluetooth microphone for voice chat, and this is shutting off the bluetooth audio output as it can’t use both at the same time.

Man this is so f-ing janky. I have to go into the settings every time I start the sim or load a flight for them to take effect it seems, otherwise there’s no sound.

Happens to me too, ill be playing all sound through my bluetooth speaker connected to my PC, everything works normally until I open MSFS2024.

As soon as i open it, my sound quality degrades and distorts, and no sound plays from MSFS.

Incredibly frustrating.

didnt fix issue… wow. msfs2024 is trash.

Didin’t my friend. any other ideas? I disabled airpod pro as a mic in sound settings on the actual pc settings and set it to my blue yeti as mic. same for ingame voice chatinput and ingame input audio.

output i tried airpods OR system default and doesnt work. yet i see volume mixer is showing sound is playing but i can’t hear it at allll. i checked to see if their was a handless headset and aanother audio headset device for airpods there is just 1 . I can’t figure this out

Im on windows 11i noticed it creates a second audio tab in mixer but changing that does nothing https://ibb.co/xhC8qxN

That’s all I got, sorry :\

FIXED. I had to change voice chat output device to my monitor and now i have ingame audio LOL WHAT.

So if anyone has this issue and changing voice chat input doesn’t work change voice chat output to your monitor and it will for sure fix it. Just won’t have working voice chat though.

Thanks SKIP!

I managed to fix my audio issue by changing the microphone access under Privacy Security / Microphone in settings to off. Instantly fixed my issue with my bluetooth speaker.

Is that a Windows setting? Can it apply only to Flight Sim?

What’s annoying is my fix in the Flight Sim settings requires that I revisit the settings page every time I load the sim, and sometimes every flight. It’s like it doesn’t remember settings until I remind it or something.

Yep, this is what did it for me.

If you hit the start button, type “security”, open the new ■■■■■■ control panel replacement app, then scroll down on the left side there is a “microphone” tab. Click that, then half way down there is a slider that allows apps to use the microphone. Disable that and it should disable msfs24 from grabbing the mic and crapping out Bluetooth.

Same issue with my Galaxy buds 2. Setting a different mic input doesn’t fix the issue. I even have the mic disabled in settings on my buds 2.

Hello, I just bought the game Flight Simulator 2024 from Steam (PC), and installed it.
Installation looks OK, but when I launch, there is no sound at all. :mute:
The video’s loading screen is working fine but without any sound, and the game is launching (I could create my character but without sound).
But even if I select my headset as default audio, desactivate the chat vocals (a tip from some other topic), restart, nothing happen with the sound “in game”.
My Realtek Audio driver and graphic card RTX3090 are up to date, and my other games and PC sounds still worked perfectly.
I did checked the “Integrity of the file game”, so I don’t know where the problem came from.
I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the game with hope, …in vain. :worried:

Please, any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I just experienced this as well. Windows dynamically switches sound inputs when I plug my earbuds in to the 3.5mm jack. I have set my sound devices to be my Index VR Headset, but it doesn’t seem to save that setting. Changing the sound device settings in game does not seem to work without restarting.

This worked instantly for me! I went into microphone settings in Windows and there’s a list of apps which have access to your bluetooth microphone, and I turned it off for MSFS and it fixed the issue straight away.

This works better than mucking around in the Flight Simulator settings, marking as solution.

Even if you fix it in the Flight Simulator settings, the settings don’t load right away, so it still shuts your sound down while loading, and often times you have to go into the settings to “remind it” before the sound starts. Removing the microphone permission for the Flight Simulator app stops this entirely.
