Hi all!
Recently I’ve noticed that Thunderstorms have disappeared from the game. I’ve tried the Beta, and the full release, and they’re not triggering in game.
I’m playing on PS5.
I’ve checked all settings. They were put in after a beta update in Sim Update 4 I believe, but after it’s been update to 5 this is when it’s happened.
Is anyone else having this issue?
PC - MSFS 2024 1.7.34 / MS. Store
I was flying over a stormy Europe yesterday and thunderstorms were definitely showing up for me in MSFS.
I was just trying over Oxford in the UK, and it was not triggering. Strange
Had thunderstorms over Thailand on the SU5.1b yesterday.
Are you on PC?
I’ve tried Beta and Full release but nothing
There’s a lot of questions and no solid answers as to when thunderstorms trigger in the sim. Sometimes it seems to be based on size, strength, or duration, or any combination of the three - the more of any, the more likely it’ll show in the sim. However, it seems to lag the initiation of storms and misses smaller, more ephemeral ones altogether.
The one over Oxford looks like it’s been persistent, though, and those sometimes do make the sim. No idea if it’s being missed, suppressed, or otherwise. Only Asobo can answer as to what’s happening in their black box.
According to the METAR, there should be a thunderstorm (TSRA), meaning it is currently active. However, it’s not 100% certain, because there is also a RETSRA remark, which suggests the thunderstorm may have passed recently and conditions could be in transition or already weakening.
Thank you for your feedback
Getting lightning now SW of San Jose, Costa Rica.
Are you on PC, or console?
PC. I also realized my weather was out of sync, so exact time of day may have been off. I was getting lightning, but I can’t be sure how accurate it was to live weather at this point.
Ok thank you, on PS5 it’s not triggering. My friend has the same issue on Series X. I’ve tried Beta and Normal version of the game with the latest update.
Seems to have stopped with 5
For whatever reason, lightning generation seems to be more accurate in the tropics.
Oh ok, thank you. I’ll have a look around that way
Yes, PC.
Just to be clear: are we talking about thunder / lighting or fully developed CB clouds?
I had thunder and lightning, but the clouds did not really look like thunderstorm clouds…
No lightning or thunder at all. I know it doesn’t fully do the clouds
Ah yes. As I have mentioned many times in Where are the cumulonimbus clouds?
We have no high altitude cumulonimbus clouds and we need the devs to urgently get us a better cloud rendering system. As was promised on trailers and honestly since 2020.
Once place I fly to that never disappoints with thunderstorms is SOCA
