Everyone seems to be trying VR…but I dont have any update in the Windows Store? Is it being rolled out slowly?
Hi @PilotPhilip, welcome to the forums. Should be there for everyone. How are you launching the game? (through XBox App, or the normal start icon)
Also, what version number are you showing?
From the release notes, It’s included for everyone. I’d worry more about why you’re not seeing an update at all, because there were a lot of other fixes in the update besides the VR stuff.
Regards
I see version 1.11.7.0 in the Microsoft Store (which says all your trusted apps and games…have the latest updates)
I’m launching from the start menu shortcut.
In game the ‘Checking for updates’ does not find anything new.
@PilotPhilip are you playing from the xbox game pass? I just figured it out. So if you are try opening the xbox game pass. right click on msfs and select view details. update should appear there. ( only 1Gb) then when you start the game a main update will start.
Weirdly no, not game pass. I just purchased it from the store pre beta like most of us.
I went in today and now it starts downloading the update. So strange. So I guess this resolved itself!
You must update MFS2020 in the Microsoft store before launching the game.
Right, but there was no update in the store for me to update until today for some reason
I have this same issue… No update available for me (currently 1.11.7.0 installed). I have tried numerous times to quit MS Store and even reset (apps & features -> MS Store -> Advanced) with rebooting in between resets. I have also tried VPN connections (Paris, UK and USA). All to no avail. Guess they are rolling out the update using some kinda criteria.
In case it might be helpful for someone else, this is how I finally got the latest VR update.
- apps & features -> Gaming Services -> advanced options
- Terminate, Repair, Reset
- apps & features -> Microsoft Store -> advanced options
- Terminate, Reset
- apps & features -> Microsoft Flight Simulator -> advanced options
- Terminate, Repair (NOT Reset but Repair!!)
I think it was #6 above that did the trick.
I then fired up MSFS2020 and got a message about a mandatory update which opened up the Microsoft Store and started downloading (1.03GB).
I never see MSFS 2020 in my list of recent applications or things with updates in the Windows Store. I was stuck with a half-updated game (mandatory update required, installed, downloaded some stuff but was still stuck on 1.11.8 launcher and core) where VR worked but glass cockpits didn’t. I was able to force it to update by going to the flight simulator page in the store and clicking the three dots next to Play and clicking “Install on device” and re-selecting the same computer. It switched to downloading and eventually all was well.
