no particle effects of any kind since release. It’s on the list. Probably with DX12
We have contrails, the first particle effect Asobo has created. They have also created instructions for creating particle effects in the SDK. I imagine, as you noted, water wakes are on the list and will eventually be released (probably when they create proper water physics).
actually there where particles at release (not so sure about waterspash though), they where just so bad Asobo removed them, to slowly add them back in, in hopefully better quality.
Yet another of the many features that were present in FSX 15 years ago,
and are not present in MSFS 2020…
FSX Gold is always worth a revisit and you’re so right about the present lack of essential features such as Water Wake that we enjoyed in that wonderful Sim.
ASOBO’s talented Developers will give us all these things and more in time.
So we must be patient and hold the thought that this will be so in our expectant Heads.

I’m sure we’ll have them very soon. All that sort of thing will come with the Xbox/DX12 optimisation. Be nice to have smoke effects from engines upon starting up with older planes like the Spitfire. Big downdraft effects from helicopter blades would be great too. All this will come I’m certain.

didn’t know that. Was that in Alpha or after release in August? Can’t remember ever seeing particles apart from the contrails.
The funcionality is in the SDK since latest update and some developers are already making use of it. But its still limited to Simobject (aircrafts).

I would not bet any money on a wish tracker, weather is basically fixed a year post release…and some are still having issues.

You’re partially correct. XBOX is the main focus and where resources currently are. That’s why we haven’t seen a whole lot of movement on “minor” bug fixes or new features for PC in months now. If it’s not going to be available on XBOX, it’s not getting worked on the PC version.
That said, once the XBOX version is rolled out, it becomes a unified DX12 codebase between both platforms. Outside of some minor functional differences (slight limitations on XBOX), PC and XBOX versions will be identical. Any bug on one platform will exist on the other. Any fixes will likewise also appear in both versions. So no new features of any significance will roll out until said XBOX / DX12 is out.
