ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
There is no way to configure the Skycrane to pickup/drop water, despite having a “Firefighting Configuration” option.

If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue:

Erickson Incorporated S-64F Skycrane - Firefighting Configuration

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

No mods

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Launch MSFS2024 and select Free Flight
  2. Select the Erickson Incorporated S-64F Skycrane - Firefighting Configuration
  3. Go to Settings > Controls > Keyboard and search for “water” and notice that no options appear.
  4. Change the aircraft to fixed wing aircraft capable of water bombing and search controls again for “water”.
  5. Notice that the controls for water only apply to fixed wing “airplanes”.

We have created an internal ticket to see if our team already has this logged, and if not they will attempt to reproduce the issue and create a new bug report. This item is now marked as feedback-logged. If there is an existing bug report or one is created, we will move this thread to bug-logged

Unfortunately it’s not a bug. It’s confirmed by the dev that the function is intentionally missing.

Not happy about it either. My hope is that they ran out of time in implementing the whole helicopter fire fighting part and that is one of the surprises in next year’s roadmap.

Dang. And I was building a collective controller and was going to add switches for that feature.

Stop advertising features, such as the fire fighting option for the Erickson Skycrane, that are not possible.

This is blatant false advertising.

Besides of tons of bugs and worse performance the intro movie is what for me is most annoying with 2024.

It was such a let down realizing that the advertizement trailers of FS2024 were nothing else than the rendered opening sequence and not actual in game footage. They did not even put the effort to have something new there.

This really fits with the bad overall impression. Still I believe that Asobo is doing good work, most probably they were forced by a well known software company to make FS2024. So they have to do their best to make something work that was not their own idea and for sure is not easy to accomplish.

No, there is no way to map the water controls to helicopters. I put in a bug but was told MS intentionally left it out.

And I started buying parts to build a collective controller with water controls. :rage:

According to the reply your received, it was “at this time”.

However, you’ll still be able to use the collective you’re planning on building to fly helicopters in the sim, so it’s really only a minor (and temporary, based on the reply) setback.

Product: MSFS2024
Platform: PC

My sim is stock, no addons, accessories, etc. Completely stock installation. Issue has been there since first installation of the sim.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

• Yes, this issue is apparent in use of the firefighting configuration in free flight. There is no capability to operate the water tank doors, drop the hover snorkel from the stowed position (nor operate it’s pump to syphon water into the tank), or extend/retract the sea snorkel. The firefighting options for the helicopter are completely absent.

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:

• There are no apparent switches, controllers, etc in the cockpit or crew stations that provide control over these items listed above in the sim, nor are there assignments for them in the assignments menu. The only option that’s there is a “spray” option for agricultural aircraft. Which the S-64F is not and is therefore, incorrect.
