No wonder VR doesn't get much attention

I have tried VR in Flightsim, i use it regular in Sim racing.

Hi
You are correct unless we start voting and help push VR forwards it will go on the back burner for sure.

Finally, a VR user!
:joy:

Just kidding — you’re totally right. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Still, I’ll never understand why some people hang out in VR-dedicated forums just to tell us they don’t like VR.
It’s like crashing a karaoke night just to complain about singing.

Dear people of the Internet:
This post is about us VR users — encouraging more of us to be active in our spaces, in the VR sections of the forum.
It’s not an invitation to go fight 2D gamers, nor try to convince anyone that their way of gaming is wrong. Seriously, we’re not trying to start a war here. We’re just this lovely, slightly dizzy, niche group trying to enjoy our thing and have a say in the future of it.

So if you’re here just to say VR is a gimmick or not your thing… maybe just scroll on by?
Or better yet — there’s a whole wide flat world out there for you. Go rant on a 2D forum.

Let the VR kids dance in peace — we’re not hurting anyone.

All my loving… laa la a lalaaalaaaa :musical_notes:
(Yes, I’m singing it in VR.)

Cheers!

To be honest with SU2 VR is actually getting some attention, first time since initial introduction in 2020 and implementation of (lousy) VR controller support a couple of months later.
I mean:

  • native Fixed Foveated Rendering
  • native (still in infancy) Dynamic Foveated Rendering
  • exposure compensation.

There are not so many titles on the market supporting FFR, even less natively supporting DFR.
These new SU2 beta VR features allowed me, after so many years, disabling OpenXR Toolkit, which is no longer recommend by the developer (Matthieu).
Possibly Asobo finally hired a VR developer or one of their developers decided to learn VR.

I’d love if Asobo had done what you say, hired a VR developer, just one :joy:

Yeah, I totally agree — things are finally starting to feel promising.
Seeing new VR-only features like FFR pop up gave me a little spark of hope… maybe even bigger improvements are on the way.

I’m really enjoying the second beta. About to jump into a Search and Rescue mission — not the built-in ones though, but with the amazing SayIntentions.ai, SkyOps.
Honestly, I wish Asobo would just license their AI system — even just the free version — and make it the default ATC in the sim.
The current implementation is just… sad. Especially during missions. It actually makes me want to cry sometimes.

Cheers!

It may not be a case of VR versus non-VR users. People categorize themselves by whichever they feel closest to.

I dont classify myself as a VR user. I classify myself as a Virtual Tourist. That is where my passion lies, actually touring and exploring the digital version of the world. I do have a VR headset. I use it sometimes. Sometimes I don’t. I do like VR the times I use it. But I also like using my ultrawide monitor. I have nothing but the best OLED monitors. Currently I had two different headsets that were preordered that I am waiting for delivery for. Maybe I will like VR better when I get visuals that compare to my monitors. I don’t know.

Now, dont get me wrong. I’m not one of those forum users who are bashing VR. I’m just explaining why some forum users who don’t classify themselves as VR users might be reading this section of the forum.

Plus, of course, this is a forum where everybody is free to peruse and post as they see fit (so long as it’s within the rules of the forum), and therefore do not need permission from others to post here. Any forum member can post here whether they are VR or non-VR.

Hey,
First of all, apologies if anything I said came off as offensive — that was never my intention.

You’re absolutely right: this is an open forum, and everyone is free to post wherever they like, as long as it follows the rules. I completely respect that.

That said, my point wasn’t about permissions, but rather about purpose. It’s more about how we choose to spend our time and why we engage in certain spaces. If someone doesn’t use VR and doesn’t like it… why spend time in a VR-focused thread or forum? Genuinely asking — it just feels like a mismatch of interests.

I’ll say it again with the example I used: it’s like showing up to a karaoke night just to complain about people singing. It’s allowed, sure — but is it really the best use of your evening?

We’re just a niche group of VR users trying to carve out space to grow, support each other, and push for better experiences. That’s all.

No bad vibes from my side — just wanted to clarify where I was coming from. :victory_hand:

I agree, us VR pilots need to come together to form a stronger voice. VR Piloten der Welt, vereinigt Euch!

Sorry, but you can’t compare your past PS4 PSVR experience to a high-end PC running MSFS2024 on a modern VR headset. It’s like me saying I don’t like racing simulations because I had a bad experience with Atari Pole Position in 1984 Lol.
