Non Functioning EFB in VR

Patience is all we can do at this moment. We dont need a hastily “fix” rushed out before its ready. It may cause other issues. I would rather wait a little bit longer and get something that is a permanent fix and not a hastily shoved together temporary fix that would probably break with the following update.

I know we paid a premium price for the product, and we should have been given a more polished piece of software, but what has happened has happened, and no amount of ■■■■■■■■ and complaining is goign to help the situation. Its best to log the bugs, have people that have the same issue vote on it and the priority will move.

I 100% believe that Microsoft gave Asobo a hard date to release the sim no matter the state it was in on that date. I do not put the blame on Asobo, but the publisher, Microsoft. You could tell by the body language of the dev team during the last dev stream were stressed, tired and wanted to get things fixed.

It will take time and patience to get things worked out.

The fact that the VR issues were not sovled with the last patch tells me that the issue is deeper and needs more time to figure out and create a fix.
They stated that the EFB, Tool bar and a few other bugs were all part of the same issue. Its a deeper fix that is needed and they said they were working on it.

Anything assumed otherwise is just an emotional response because you are upset.

They answered some of the concerns about VR with 2020. They stated that they had pushed the engine as far as it could go, and many of the issues could not be fixed due to the limitations of the sim’s engine. That was answered in several of the Dev streams.

Why are the VR bugs still not fixed in Patch update?
We still can’t fly with these sim braking VR bugs, Toolbar not working, mouse interaction on all switches and EFB not working at all in VR.
Please focus more on VR. Please pretty please

Asobo did not test it before release, they never test anything, they just wanted the money

Patch #3 did not fix the toolbar and EFB issues in VR. Sad, indeed. Please, Asobo, quickly get a fix out for this as it is currently totally killing our VR flights.

Microsoft clearly see the EFB as a key part of the product, including the flight planning and charts which were demonstrated in the recent live stream.
So either a) they did not test this in VR or b) they did test it , knew that it was not going to work for a while and have failed to disclose this to the end user.
Neither is good from a professional development perspective. The rest of the product is working well for me , so I will stick with it but they just need to see this as a high priority, perhaps higher than some other ‘game’ features.
If you take into account various 3rd party panels which work fine in VR (e.g. Beyond ATC Toolbar and Navigraph) , maybe this wont be hard to resolve.

I was hoping this would have been fixed in the latest patch but nope. Same with the VR menu, still not working correctly.

I don’t think they have done any fixing of VR mode sadly. It’s not prioritized.

Because it takes time to isolate, figure out the cause, write the code to fix the issue, check for any new issues it may have caused and issue the fix for review and release. These things take time. Not everything can be fixed quickly.

If you look at the chart below, all three of the big VR bugs are being worked on.

The best we can do as players is report the bugs, and vote on them when they are reported.

Same here in VR!

If someone knows how to navigate the SDK and edit cockpits, there is a way to install an EFB in any aircraft. It needs to be set to a hard point. Adding An EFB

An easy way out of this for Asobo is to offer an aircraft configuration with the EFB installed. Then those who want it could simply select that configuration of aircraft. It will be hard locked, so no making it go away in flight. But in RL flying I always had my iPad out and could not make it go away either.

If anyone is an SDK expert and would care to show us Luddites how to do it, we would much appreciate it.

A month after release, a few updates later, and this still hasn’t been addressed. Flying in VR for me has become obsolete. I just revert back to 2020. Not being able to use most of the features of the EFB, in most planes is not that big of a deal. But the fact that the checklist is buried in the EFB, and there’s no way to go through checklists whatsoever in VR in planes where the EFB isn’t mounted, is really disappointing. How has this not been addressed and fixed yet?

Yes, EFB is unusable in VR.

Same here with NVidia RTX 4090. Tab opens EFB only but not able to use mouse or controllers to click on or interact in any way. Can only just ‘Tab’ to remove it.

Not a single tester realized that the EFB doesn’t work in VR? No sweat off Asobo’s nose. The users will just pay them for the privilege of reporting this after its released. While they’re fixing the VR issue, I hope they realize that any command that is mapped to the keyboard will activate when the user is using the keyboard to type into any text field in the EFB. If you type something in like an airport name and botch the spelling and need to backspace, the game will interpret backspace to mean that you want to toggle between cockpit and external view. Genius.

EFB unusable in vr

Yes, I think that backspace thing is just another symptom of the VR EFB never taking the focus from the main cockpit, when the VR mouse pointer is moved over it.

I’ve seen this before, as well as the VR mouse pointer and virtual control panels not being in the same plane (not aircraft  ). It seems to be a pretty basic operation when converting from pancake to VR mode and I reckon they’d forgotten to do it and just not found the time to realise and fix it.

Bug-logged but let’s see how many more patches we need to wait until this one is fixed… I hope we won’t be disappointed again since VR is definitely their last concern.

try alt+T for the toolbar, I’ve been having mixed luck with that
