Since a flawless SU15 update I have been flying more than usual to check the results of the update. I must say that I have been more than happy. LOD has been good, framerates fine, quality of graphics very good. As background: I have a sort of average PC: Ryzen 7 3700X, 32GB memory, RTX 3080, two M.2 NVMe drives for system and the sim. I have a 32" 4K monitor, settings mostly on Ultra, TLOD 300, OLOD 200. Some images of these flights:
Started off at my home airport CYXX Abbotsford in BC, Canada. Flying VFR up the Fraser Valley towards Hope:
Because New York can be a good stress test, I did VFR flight from Newark KEWR to La Guardia KLGA with a couple passes over New York city. Visuals were crisp, framerates good and only very rarely a quick, single stutter.
Next stop: because of a post that I saw regarding quality around KLAX, I then did an IFR flight from KSFO to KLAX. I decided to do this one IFR with real weather. All in all things went fine. I did have one glitch of my own making during the RNAV at KLAX but I could remedy my own mistake quite painlessly. Not something I would like to do in real life around KLAX though!
I then decided to test FSLTL around KLAX. Obviously, this is a tough ask on my system but on the whole it wasn’t all that bad. Moving around outside the aircraft does lead to occasional big FPS dips and some stutters but I still find it bearable. Looking forward to upgrading my system in 2025 to improve on this.
I decided to do an IFR flight between two hand crafted airports: Le Bourget (LFPB) to Cologne- Bonn (EDDK). Weather started out quite poor but it did get progressively better. The whole IFR flight worked flawlessly. On this flight I also used FSLTL. Images:
I liked seeing the live traffic contrail through the gap in the clouds
