Not a bad night for VMC.
Went to Montauk from Block Island, did an RNAV approach too. Everything worked, a little low so I took over with about .2 NM to go. It was very neat making that flight in “Pinkie” (just a touch of red illumination left of daylight) conditions.
Short repositioning flight from Newport State to Quonset, VFR approach. What was really cool was finally hearing over Tower Freq “Airbus XXX, hold, Cessna Skyhawk on Short Final” just as I crossed the threshold. I heard him clear the heavy onto the active so I rushed to get to Ground Freq and a taxi path to the ramp. I even heard the heavy departing behind me as I got onto the taxiway (poor screenie but that’s him in the back aloft).
Of course, Quonset hasn’t been used as an active hub in decades so a bit of realism breaker there, but some of the magic from FSX days of an active field are slowly coming back.
