Not always live-weather in career? Or at least METAR in the missions screen

I’ve spent the day flying my cessna into 40knot crosswind landings all across Europe because the whole of Europe is in storm right now (or at least according to msfs). Be it Spain, UK, Germany etc. and as we’re all forced to start careers in a cessna or a cub could there be an option for the sim to randomly generate conditions so, in the event of a hurricane/storm in some region of the world, it doesn’t limit our flights or make them incredibly risky?

I’ve done about 15 flights today, I think I can count on two fingers how many were in reasonable conditions, and I’ve crashed today because my aircraft flipped while taxiing. If you decide to force us to use live weather, could we at least get METAR in the missions screen so we can choose whether to embark on certain missions? It would make flights a lot more stress-free and save me from having to pull up Windy before every flight.

Edit: Changing the time of flight doesn’t do anything, because the weather hadn’t changed in over 24 hours.

The weather itself is bugged in career mode right now. It seems like always using live winds and background info (airports in VFR, MVFR, IFR), awards you for bad weather, but still shows you preset of calm skies.

Currently the weather in career mode seems locked, quite unfortunate and boring.

I request the development team to allow free weather settings in the carrier mod for different missions. Currently, there are weather conditions that are not optimal for sightseeing, agricultural flying and I could list more. Extreme turbulence, wind that pilots do not fly into in real life to complete tasks. Please allow the user to freely set the weather during their flight according to their own wishes.

TLDR: Grant users access to time/date and weather menu in career.

I think we can all agree there are some awesome features with the new career mode, but unfortunately it can lack immersion / a feeling of player presence in the world.
This is one of several suggestions I will be posting to the Wishlist forum.

Request:
After the player has received the IFR and night flying qualifications they should have full control of the weather/time/date menu for missions.

To create an immersive session users may want to simulate a full day comprising multiple missions, adjusting settings per flight. They may want to simulate flying in summer, winter, sun or snow.

Some mission types can still have time frame requirements, e.g. Skydiving: 9am-5pm.

Yes… METARs at least… I regret passing my Instruments course, now! Each time I start a mission, I know the weather conditions when I get on the tarmac. A bit too late (even in real life, too. right?).

I’m not fully convinced that no live weather is the best option as the reality is you can’t fly a 172 in certain areas as much as you’d like.

That being said… METAR is an absolute must. You shouldn’t be penalized for taking a mission and aborting it or having to do that stupid cycle because its only after you join that you find out its hurricane season in Florida.

There really has to be an option to remove live weather from Career mode. For a very, very long time after beginning, players only have access to small planes, like the Cessna 172. While live weather is cool, during this time of year it’s borderline unflyable in small planes across the globe. I’ve looked at the wind layer on the world map and there are high winds basically everywhere. Europe, the US, Australia, Africa. Everywhere. Missions in a C172 are nigh-impossible to complete in such winds and turbulence. This should’ve been thought of while designing the Career mode.

Missions should provide the option to play in live weather or preset weather, presumably with higher rewards for the former. But until someone doesn’t have access to large, heavy planes, flying in live weather is generally not feasible.

I myself have flown dozens of hours now in the C172, doing light cargo missions in ridiculous weather, constant high winds and turbulence, and it hasn’t been enjoyable at all. I don’t know how the designers of the Career mode expect players to approach this mode. Should we wait for next Spring or Summer before flying so we hopefully have feasible weather?

I think the live weather in career mode is fine.

The fuel calculation is a bit of a mess with headwind 30+ knots for a cessna :stuck_out_tongue:

Also it is fun to have charters over Alps in icing conditions and turbulent winds for Cessna 172, and no, ATC won’t allow you to get higher than 9000 ft. unless mountain is ahead. 10 stalls of 10, but it is not what kills passengers. CTDs are :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m calling those missions: rich ppl decided to play with fate.
