The last update was simple and smooth. This one was not. I would think that a software company as big as Microsoft would have a simple way to update software??? Why do we have to go to the Microsoft store and then back to the sim? Anyway a lot got fixed and a lot did not. I was figuring that this was going to take care of a lot of the “small problems” that have crept in over the past year but still some problems remain. Maybe eventually the sim will get “patched up” and we can go forward. FWIW
Steam works much the same way. I just get the base game updates through Steam and then launch the sim to get updates to the other packages. It all went flawless for me this round because I was already part of the SU8 beta.
I just wish they stopped touching my settings. I except I have to redownload my community folder files. But I hate having to go through and fix all the settings to what I had them. What’s worse is when they touch the custom controls.
My settings weren’t altered at all. After upgrade, things are as they were.

I know this is not going to be a great consolation, but on the last Developer Q&A, a question was asked about fixing the update process.
There weren’t a lot of details in the response, but there was an acknowledgement it’s a pain and they want to do something about it eventually:
Agreed here. None of my custom control sensitivities stick now. I have to change them every single time I load the sim. I’m going to try manually entering them into the file, and then making the file read-only.
After SU8, I can’t even get into the game. Keeps saying my VR headset is not connected.
Yep, because it just crashes to desktop if headset is connected. Am leaving it for some time, and hoping that next update fixes stuff.
Try running your VR software outside of the game and verify all is working using the provided diagnostics. Then once verified, leave it running and try in the game again.
Does that work?
Iracing is my other big use of VR, as is VR Regatta. Both of those work well. Just MSFS.
I will be patient, as it will be resolved. PITA, but it will be resolved.
