The textures are much better now. However I’m still worried for the other people out there who are still facing issues. Guys, I hope you will get to flying soon!
Checking the forums here, Avsim, and Reddit, a lot more people are able to spawn in and fly now. I’ve read of very few cases of people who are still stuck on installing the sim.
Yesterday, I think some people were still stuck on the screen right after “Fly Now” where it’s a top down view from sky to the ground, but as of today, those posts have been reduced a lot.
For me and some live streamers too, there are still issues with the quality of the ortho textures when they spawn in (I also had issues with the quality of the cockpit textures in about two of my flights today). So I hope the MSFS team can work to improve the loading of the ortho textures.
From what I’ve seen, Xbox and UK guys are having a really bad time. Let’s hope things will get better really soon.
Yes, I noticed that my internet receive (via Task Manager) was a lot higher than in the past few days. I suppose the ‘big’ test will be over the next few hours (UK based) as people finish work for the weekend… will the servers still hold
I forgot to say that when i go back to the menu after a flght, and then click on “free flight”, the game freezes. There is still something to fix.
I am one UK guy who has struggled to even get in a flight. However today, I have had 100% success in getting into flights. I woulde judge, by the lack of threads relating to inability to access the sim, that things are now much better over here.
I would love to know exactly what has changed and what was wrong the last three days.
I am now in the happy position (i suppose) of finding out how the sim itself is functioning. I know over the coming days things will get a whole lot better but right now I am finding a lot that is confusing and concerning. I fly in VR and i havent got anywhere close yet, to the visuals i had in 2020.
I’m really happy to read this! Yes, everything will get better. Once the major bugs are solved, this will be a really nice game
The main issue I’m having now is the loading of ground textures (as it seems many are facing).
Other than that, it’s running good for me (USA, Maryland) flying the Longitude with everything on Ultra. I was flying in and out of clouds just now and it looked fantastic. Extremely smooth. Of course that’s without the burden of Ortho, so that’s the next test.
EU Server performance is still very bad. Even just switching back to the mission overview after completing a mission takes 20 minutes.
Network usage of MSFS 2024 is usually only around 2 Mbps with my 250 mbit connection.
90% of time is still spent in loading screens, this is far from acceptable bandwith related for me.
Because it’s evening in Europe and now most people are playing. On SteamDB you can get a sense of when most people are online and right now we are at the 24 hour peak regarding users. Of course that’s Steam only but the curve of active players will probably not differ much from other platforms

So yes, the servers still suck and can’t handle all the users
Graphics vary. When loaded properly, the new world looks amazing. When not, it’s terrible. As far as the planes, they overall look more gamey cartoonish vs in 2020
Just watching a streamed UK video on youtube and he’s flying in a slow aircraft and the ground textures cannot even keep up with that, just a blurry mess.
He has a stable 500 Mbps connection … so the UK users have really been short changed here, and if " UK downloading " is anything to go by it will not be fixed … ever. He’s even getting the connection pop-up with 500Mbps
P.S.
2020 is working great, and flight planning using the Simbrief link is working well with the FBW
What you need to do is to look at the Task Manager. For instance, I have a 100 Mbps connection (which should be enough according to the posted requirements). However, in the Task Manager I can see that my actual download speed (running only MSFS, nothing else) is below 1 Mbps.
hi Belboz64
Yes, I agree, I was always told the same, for the last sim, and this by the sound of it, that the download/connection requirement was quite meagre considering the speeds we have now … so that leaves the only constant in the equation … Microsoft servers.
I would safely go on the record and say " Downloading " in the UK is a very hit or miss affair for most of us.
Add " constant downloading/ ground textures etc " by every UK user … what could go wrong?
Just checked my speeds in Task Manager for 2020
2020 booting up Sim went to 77Mbps then settled at 10Mbps
At Baltimore Airport 50 to 60 Mbps
At 15000 ft clear skies average 3 to 12 Mbps with spikes
I’m still having major issues with the server in the UK on Xbox. I have managed to do my cpl test and 2 missions today with multiple restarts and deleting cache just to get missions and or HQ to load and when they do it ranges in between 5 and 10 minutes each time. When it does work it’s great but across 9 hours today and only them 3 activities was achievable with the loading screens is a joke to be honest. I hope it improves drastically and quickly.
Now the bandwith is really good, no issue here in Germany. Loaded into a flight a dozen of times to test
Again massive server issues in Germany. 18:30 CET. Stuck in loading screens everywhere. Not able to join any flight.
For me starting yesterday and continuing all day today: both FS2024 and FS2020 hang during startup (XBox X).
An update… Munich, Germany, 21:00 CET. Much better - now I get downstream rates of 50 up to 70 Mbps, which means load times are quite reasonable. If it stay that way…
Over one week since the launch… and there hasn’t been ONE day I could play the sim properly. Always problems with the servers. Please… do something!
