Nvidea Settings For VR

It’s been a while since I reviewed my Nvidia settings and was curious what the latest thinking is on them. Here’s my current settings:

Globally I set Shader Cache Size to 10GB.

For 2020 and 2024 I set the following:

AF to 16X (Off in game)
OpenGL GDI Comp - Prefer Perf
Pwr Mgt Mode - Prefer Max Perf
Texture Filtering Qual - High Qual

On the fence settings:

MFAA ON . Heard it gives you more FPS. Anyone have evidence of this?
Virtual reality pre-rendered frames. Any advantage to setting it >1

which PC specs do you have?
Especially the GPU.

I’m running a 9800X3D/32GB and a 4070ti Super driving an OG Crystal

No advantages changing these from defaults imho.

I use about the same nvidia control panel 3d settings except I change the texture quality default to = high performance because it gives me a couple more fps without any noticeable effects on clarity.

runing a 4090/9800x3d and quest 3. Will try the settings

I just tried a test with MFAA ON, Global Settings, in 2020 and 2024 and for me I got about a 4 FPS boost. Curious if anyone else has tried tuning this on?

Just tried it with msfs2020 and there wasn’t any significant difference in anything (clarity or fps). Seemed marginally smoother with it turned off. Anyway, like everything VR, use whatever works best for you.

In general, I don’t believe that FXAA offers much advantages with dx11/12 apps. I do use it for non-dx11/12 apps like X Plane 11/12 and it does seem to smooth edges without much impact in performance.
