Nvidia DLSS Frame Gen is not working in the beta. Previous post says ‘solved’ when the ‘Solution’ isn’t correct

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

Nvidia DLSS Frame Gen does not work in the latest beta after testing both SU1 and SU2. A previous post has marked this issue ‘solved’ when the ‘solution’ isn’t actually to do with this specific problem

Did you experience this issue before you joined the Beta?

No

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

Yes

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

Constant

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Load up SU2 beta
  2. Turn on DLSS frame Gen
  3. See that FPS is the same as No Frame Gen

YOUR SETTINGS

If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

What peripherals are you using, if relevant:

N/A

[PC Only] Are you using Developer Mode or have you made any changes to it?

No

[PC Only] Many issues may be due to an outdated graphics card. Please state your Graphics Card Driver Manufacturer (NVIDIA, Intel, AMD) and Version:

[PC Only] What other relevant PC specs can you share?

7 7800X3D, RTX 4070ti Super, 64GBs RAM

MEDIA

Please add a screenshot or video of the issue occurring.

@KianAlli28
Turn off Dev mode

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• No. FPS will be shown correctly in Dev Mode as long as Smart Docking System under options is unchecked.

KianAlli28, What are you using to measure FPS?

I’ve used both Xbox Hub and Nvidia overlay to check so I can avoid dev mode, I’ve also used th in game FOS counted with dev mode off. It’s not a dev mode issue, that’s not an issue at all in fact as Frame Gen turning off in dev mode has been there for a long time. This is the beta only. Also, it’s visible without any FPS counter too, it’s THAT noticeable

Third-party applications may display incorrect FPS values — in MSFS, we check the FPS by enabling the built-in FPS counter through Developer Mode. After checking, we turn off Developer Mode and confirm the changes.

Yep, also edited that part in before. Although it’s such a massive visual difference I could still tell it wasn’t working before the FPS counters were even open. This is an issue in the beta, talked to multiple people about this and they’re in the same situation

FPS has always been accurate for me using Dev Mode in 2024. In 2020, Dev Mode has never displayed FPS properly with FG on.

It’s strange it’s not working for you. I hate to state the obvious as you have probably tried everything.

1: Is HAGS turned on in Windows?

2: Did you try reinstalling the graphics driver using DDU and or reverting to a previous driver?

3: Are you using any of the DLSS hacks?

4: I think you tried reinstalling the sim?

Sorry you are having this issue, and I hope you or Asobo can figure it out. It’s a strange issue for sure.

Same issue here, using a 5090.
DLSS Frame gen 2X, does not increase my fps even though it’s indicated as active in the Draw FPS overlay. 3X or 4X Frame gen does not work at all, it causes the image to freeze.
FSR Frame gen works fine though so the issue seems to be limited to DLSS.

FG 2x working fine on my 5090.
Either close Developer Overlay window (debug, show fps and back to menu and DevOverlay off) or use an external fps counter like NVidia etc.

Its my understanding HAGS has to be on for DLSS to show and work. Do you have it on?

Would this be Nvidia’s Alt-R “statistics”?

Please guys, read up before you comment. The Frame Gen being off in dev mode is not a new feature/bug. This issue we’re having is solely related to the beta as two of us have reported, using multiple FPS counters including in game WITHOUT dev mode. It’s also very clearly visible by just looking at the sim when you move and comparing to SU1, (which I’ve done twice btw).

• Stark difference between frame gen being off then on. Quick test with maxed out settings I’m seeing around 55 FPS without frame gen and around 115 FPS with frame gen.

Frame Generation works fine for me, in Dev mode too.

Here is the H225 (one of the worst performing aircraft in FS2024) sitting on a rooftop in photogrammetry Manhattan:

FG Off (41 FPS):

FG On (60 FPS)

That’s a 20 FPS difference, hitting my FPS Limit of 60 fps.

It looks like you’re confusing Frame Generation with actual performance improvements. Even if Frame Generation is working correctly, you might still experience performance drops or stuttering while playing MSFS 2024 SU2_beta.

Frame Generation doesn’t fix stuttering or improve raw performance — it’s essentially “fake FPS”, generating additional frames to make things look smoother, but it doesn’t reduce CPU/GPU load or improve frame pacing. So if the base performance isn’t stable, FG won’t fix that.

At work. But Alt Z I think.
And then some menu ‘show statistics’ or something

Yes

FRAME GEN fluctuates, there are times when frames are being generated and times when they are not, causing a huge drop in performance. After using FSR3 I noticed that I had better results.

So that actually confirms what I mentioned earlier - Frame Generation is working, since it does generate frames at times. But the fact that you’re still seeing performance drops shows that FG doesn’t improve actual performance.

No I’m 100% not. It’s not frame drops or improvements, it literally isn’t on. I can test SU1 with FG on and see that number is double what I get in SU2 Beta with FG on. The new AMD one works, just not DLSS
