EDIT

New Nvidia driver 572.16 and Nvidia app in some cases causing numerous CTDs.

Therefore, at the request of a forum user @DrewmorKuZy (thank you) I am sharing below a guide that explains the easiest way to add the new DLSS 4 to all games without modifying game files and without Nvidia app.

Nvidia app is not required and in some cases, it may even be responsible for CTDs.
Since the NVIDIA app is not necessary, I recommend uninstalling it.

If you want to have the latest DLSS 4 without installing the Nvidia app and DLSS Swapper, the recommended tweak is still using Nvidia Profile Inspector and editing 5 options, which I have described step-by-step below.

I decided to share what I did to get the latest DLSS models without using the Nvidia app, replacing game files or adding extra XML files.

  1. I downloaded the latest Nvidia Profile Inspector (version 2.4.0.8) from GitHub.
    https://github.com/Orbmu2k/nvidiaProfileInspector/releases/download/2.4.0.8/nvidiaProfileInspector.zip
  2. I ran Nvidia Profile Inspector as an administrator and, in the Global Profile, set 0x00000001 for the following settings:
  • Enable DLSS-FG override (for 5000 and 4000 series Nvidia GPUs)
  • Enable DLSS-SR override
  • Enable DLSS-RR override
    image
  1. set 0x00FFFFFF for the following settings:
  • Override DLSS-RR preset
  • Override DLSS-SR presets

  1. I clicked Apply changes in the top right corner to confirm the changes.
FYI, FG-override is for 5000 and 4000 series Nvidia GPUs.

  2. I launched MSFS 2024 Beta and …

Not showing up on NVIDIA’s driver search results page, either (USA): Download The Latest Official NVIDIA Drivers

But the link in OPs post is to the official NVIDIA site. Weird.

Well I went ahead and installed the driver. Sim launched fine but too soon to tell if it’s made any difference when selecting DLSS over my usual preference of TAA. How can I tell if it’s installed the latest DLSS files, I can’t find a setting or anything in the Nvidia app.

Hi,
I’ve installed the 572.16 Nvidia driver.

It seems to me that the latest driver 572.16 installs the old dlss.dll drivers, not the new dlss 4.0.

Greetings

Well that sort of confirms my initial reaction, I can’t detect any change in what DLSS looks like on my screen, still seems just a tad softer than TAA

The driver only adds support for DLSS4.
To use DLSS4 the individual game DLSS dll needs to be upgraded, either by an official game update or manually.

This may help some.

And is it enough to install the latests dll with the swaper or do we still have to set the profile in inspector, as well?

I’d like to know this too

I’m wondering if it’s better to choose a profile/preset J in the NVIDIA app instead of using NVIDIA Profile Inspector.

I refuse to install the NVidia app as I determine it to be unstable still.

I can’t see any reason why the process shouldn’t be any different if you’re not using the NV app ie: replace DLL, choose preset, as logically you’re doing the same thing in the app, though hopefully without the app issues.

Happy to be corrected though!

I installed the NVIDIA app just for testing. If, like me, you don’t like GeForce Experience or the new NVIDIA app (I never recommend optimizing games through NVIDIA’s software) then of course, you replace the file and make changes in NVIDIA Profile Inspector.

in 2020 I can choose the presets… not in 2024

Same here.

I can also choose for MSFS 2020 instead of 2024. Just out of curiosity, do you have MSFS 2024 in the beta version like I do?

Looks like DLSS super resolution transformer model is not officially supported for 2024, but it is supported for 2020. Wonder why…

Yes. Beta.

All I can say is that 572.16 with Preset J is still showing ghosting (dlss 310.1).

572.16 is now officially up on the NVIDIA driver page. Downloading and about to DDU  Let’s see… If there’s still ghosting on displays, I’m gonna be disappointed :frowning: I’m not getting my hopes up. I want to ditch TAA badly after seeing how clear everything except displays are…
