Click here to download GeForce Game Ready Driver 572.47 for Windows 10 x64 / Windows 11 x64.
I just installed the NVIDIA Game Ready Driver Version 572.47 this afternoon and am experiencing issues with 2020. The game loads halfway, then crashes. I uninstalled any mods that I downloaded just before updating the driver, and it still crashes. This has happened in the past, but I’m not sure how it fixed itself. Any suggestions?
I’m having the same issue with this driver in MSFS 2024 as I do with the previous driver. And that is, using this driver results in very high CPU usage while flying in Free Flight. CPU usage is normal with this driver in MSFS 2020, but very high in MSFS 2024. Using driver 566.36 results in normal CPU usage in both MSFS 2024 and 2020.
MSFS 2024 CPU usage with Driver 572.16 and 572.47 = 70-90%
MSFS 2020 CPU usage with Driver 572.16 and 572.47 = 17-20%
MSFS 2024 and 2020 CPU usage with Driver 566.36 = 17-20%
All drivers were installed using the “Custom” and “Clean” install options. The nVidia App is not installed. All NCP settings at their defaults. GPU is an RTX 3090 connected via DP to a Samsung Odyssey 49" 5120x1440p display @ 240hz. VRR is off. No background apps are running during game-play. In-game graphics settings were varied to see if they would change the results and they did not.
I have also posted this note on the nVidia forum in case this is an something the team over there can correct.
Could you try to explain? I am using this driver and haven’t noticed any difference from the previous one in either sim. I haven’t tried it using DX11 in MSFSS2020 as I know there are still problems.
Turning on safe mode doesnt help, reverted drivers to 566.14, still broken, uninstalled nvidia app and restarted pc aswell, set PreferD3D12 0 doesnt work either. Uninstalled and Reinstalled, verified the files via steam. Doesnt work. I genuinely dont know what else to do. If you need a crash file or something, let me know.
Welcome to the forum!
Just a quick heads-up - the thread about the Nvidia driver isn’t the right place to ask for help with CTD issues. If you’re looking for assistance with that, I recommend checking out the following thread instead: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/msfs-2020-random-crash/706226
