Likely the reason why you’ve never experienced that particular crash. There are some reports of it in DX11, but the overwhelming majority of reports of the GPU driver crash is related to using DX12.
at home everything works fine with DX12. Yesterday I made 2 flights without leaving MSFS. 2x 1h30 and no crash. I did the same today. Everything worked fine from the gate on takeoff and to the gate after landing.
Crashes with RTX 4090 and DX12
Can anyone articulate any benefits in MSFS from Nvidia drivers after 531.29? Why update now with the controversy swirling??
For some folk it’s little things like their graphic card not working at all if you use the 531.29 driver.
Put more simply, some of the latest 4XXX cards require the newer drivers.
Running a MSI RTX 4080 with an AMD 5800x3D using the 528.49 Driver and DX11. I have had no problems whatsoever on this combo for months now. So I am a little hesitant to update my Nvidia drivers until there is a clearly stable fixed version. I know the recent updated drivers should enhance use of my RTX 4080 but I prefer to enjoy my PC stability and high framerates in an uninterrupted flight. I have patience.
I appreciate the problem for the new cards but my 4090 is fine with 531.29 and crashes with the later drivers. Haven’t tried the latest…and probably won’t til this batch of trouble is history.
I have 532-03. Just nearly completed a 75 min flt, 3 mins to touchdown, and the dreaded ctd with your driver etc. It would appear whatever was the problem 531-79 is still instilled in 532-03
Windows 11, DX12, RTX3080 32ram. Prior to crash was running very well, * have everything set to Ultra, getting 45 to 55 fps and GPU only 50 to 55 %, CPU 20 to 25%*
Which driver do you use?
MOD EDIT (original text):

Game Ready
Because of other games.
All - Used to know way more about PCs and drivers but I digress. I think, that old cards like I have are not affected nearly as much as say the new RTX 3000-4000 series are with the new drivers set. I can tell you, that 531.79 worked with X-Plane, but, prior driver did not and got errors. I have not flown but two flights with the new driver, but my RTX-2070 card worked fine with it. No DX-12 until the bugs are ironed out, and at this rate, more than likely late this year.
DirectX 12 and 4070ti in VR, all good.
DirectX 12 and 3080 here and it is working well without problems.
Can Anyone talk to the point of the 2X improvement with the implementation of DirectML, a Microsoft AI learning approach DirectML is apparently more efficient in using Tensor cores on image processing, inferencing, and on many generations of GPUs. Does Blackshark AI and MSFS 2020 use DirectML in image processing in the GPU? Am I barking up a completely wrong tree. I have 14 hr on the 532.03 driver DX12 and had 1 crash, in world map airfield selection, and the game looks spectacular. What is DirectML add to this driver and does it matter to MSFS? I’m in VR on 4090 and 5800X3D DX12 Win11
I come back to give feedback after several days and hours of flights with this new pilot. After ±15 hours of flights on 7 different flights, with DX12, no noticeable memory loss and no crashes. I confirm one last time that they are for me the best driver in a long time. Strange that some have a lot of crashes. This must be randomised depending on the configuration.
Do you use Geforce Experience with custom filters?
No I never install GeForce expérience.
After so much hell trying to make my VR experience work, I installed this driver (clean and with bloat ware removed) and for some reason it is like nothing I have seen since I first tried VR. So clear and crisp. Maybe it’s just the old settings were bad or something. I seriously can’t believe it. I took the Gunslinger low and fast across the rooftops of Mumbai and I actually yelped out loud!
