NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready Driver 566.14 Discussion

Just to be sure, did you clear the nvidia caches? Also, what CPU, chipset and Win version is this with?

Yes i have a .bat file, cleaning everything on each addon install/removal or driver updates. If anyone needs: it is for msstore, steam, nvidia, amd, new and old drivers. Also using Disk Cleanup to clear more shaders.

Here is how my msfs2020 was acting after DDU clean 566.14 install:

Here are my previous tests LICJ gate110 pmdg737-700 All tests Dx11 1440p DLSS Quality 7800x3D rtx4070 2x16gb Win11Pro . Exact SU14 SU15 settings/conditions (forgot to install latest DLSS file, so updated results with 2.4.x.x, 3.5.x.x and 3.7.x.x)(SU14 was 3.5.x.x, SU15 initial update 2.4.x, installed 3.7) - Album on Imgur

I hope all goes great with msfs2024 release and i am not forced to install that driver at all.

Hello, Just updated to the new driver 566.14, instantly experienced terrible performance. So many stutters, ghosting. I was using the new updated PA-28-161 from JF at TNCM. After clearing the Cache I tried to go back in the sim and it crashed with this message.

I went back to my old drivers and it all seemed to be fixed BEWARE

I am on a RTX 4060 with i7 13700F.

So far so good this morning with 566.14, all seems smooth for me. 5950X/3090/Win 11.

The Nvidia icon located in the windows system tray now has two options, the default one now being the NVidia App, with an option still there for Nvidia Control Panel (you have to right click on the icon) to select it now. Looks like they are starting to wean us off of NVCP though.

I do have to say now it’s out of beta that the Nvidia App is nicer to use, and for in game overlays is far smoother and user friendly to use than the GE Force Experience one ever was.

I just ā€œupgradedā€ to the nVidia app. Went smoothly enough.

My PC restarted whilst finishing a round of CoD BO6, having installed the App and the new driver, but I’ve yet to clear the caches, which is my next move, prior to trying MSFS.

I’d also recently upgraded my Windows to 24H2, so a bit of a ā€œmoving targetā€ for the cause, but I’m not overly concerned that I won’t get it sorted.

It must be ā€œpart of the funā€ of PC simming, particularly when I also use VR. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

After the update, I wanted to clear the shader cache.

There is no longer an Nvidia folder (there is an Nvidia Corporation folder) and I’m not finding a GLCache folder to delete.

Am I missing something?

MSFS crashing after updating to driver 566.14. Actually all games crashing. Reverted to driver 561.09. System i9 13900k + RTX3090. Flying in VR with Pimax Crystal Light, Pimax Play version 1.34.1.1. Also using OpenXR Toolkit. System works fine with reverted driver. Each driver update since 561.09 has resulted in crashes after about 10mins of running. Cleared all caches in between test runs. Turned off the Rolling Cache. Uninstalled Nvidia App although this was working fine prior to installing 566.14.
Also using DLSS 3.7.20.0. Any thoughts anyone?

After updating to driver 566.1, I am getting very long pauses of up to 10 seconds. Never had this before.

Yes, crashes here as well on my 4090.

I had precisely this with 566.03, but (So far) not with 566.14. This other post describes it too along with a potential fix-

When I tried to install this latest driver, after DDU in safe mode, and selected the custom install, it didn’t give me the option to disable the geoforce experience option. I this because it will automatically install the new nvidia app? I haven’t installed this yet because I’m not sure about this and would prefer to just use the good old nvidia control panel for now. I’ve just gone back to 560.81 for now, which still works very well.

When I downloaded the driver it didn’t install the new app. I don’t have GeForce Experience or this new app installed.

3090ti here. VR is now a slideshow for me, gotta revert back.

I did install the new app and I still have access to the control panel (used it to reset the power management mode and texture filtering quality after the update).

For now the Nvidia App is a separate download. It is smooth and slick though. Only time will tell whether I will need NVCP any more as it is now all integrated with the App. No idea when they will eventually pull NVCP though.
