NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready Driver 566.14 Discussion

Thanks for posting that there is a new DLSS DLL version available!

The new app does not remove the classic control panel as it is still missing some options that the latter offers. So even with the new app you don’t lose the option to use the control panel.

That said if you want the new drivers without the new program you can do what I do to get my drivers and just use NVCleanstall.

Hello,
Same here, unfortunately. Also with 566.03… Hope MSFS2024 will be playable with an earlier version as well…
RTX3080

I installed 566.14 (I’d already had the NVidia app) and immediately noticed that I lost about 20 FPS after spawning at the same airport as I always go to in the same conditions, time of day, etc - and the FPS drop occurred before even starting the plane. In the past I’d tended to deinstall the old driver using DDU and then installing the new driver, but skipped that step because I hoped that it wouldn’t be necessary.

Well it was, because after I used DDU to deinstall and installed the driver a second time, my FPS came back. I assume the DDU process clears the cache at some point and that might have been all that I needed to do, but it worked so if you haven’t done that and you’re having problems then you might want to give it a try.

Also the new app set on default the optimized graphic settings for all your games. These settings are different from the settings your manual set in the Sim (or game), overwrite these and are maybe higher (and so less FPS) You can disable this automatic optimize setting in the new app. Also disable the overlay function, if you don’t use it. This also give you some extra performance back.

I updated to 566.14 and notice after flying for a bit my frame rate drops in half and my esc key stops working on my KB to get back to the main menu. I have a 4090 using TAA with DLSS on. What it looks like to me is the DLSS stops working. I can tell by the lower framarate and the slightl DLSS shimmer goes away. This is exactly what it looks like when I turn off DLSS. This happened several times last night. I reverted back to the oct 3 driver and all is well. Im on DLSS 3.7.2.0 but it sounds like there is a new 3.8.1.0 out? maybe ill use DLSS swapper to switch to it. Possibly this could be a conflict with the new driver and DLSS 3.7.2.0.

There is also a option to revert your settings back to your old ones, so it’s not permenant, but yes if you select optimise my games during first boot of Nvida App then it will fill out your sim graphics settings with their optimised ones.

Issue I’m experiencing is slight flickering on all the recent Drivers for my 4080. Driver: 537.58 is the best driver for me not one single issue

Its ok I dont see any difference.

thank you!! Downloading it now.

Yeah sadly same here, i always ended up going back to 537.58 and all issues goes away, even with DDU installs of new drives don’t fix some issues. LG C1, i am stuck on that driver. Hopefully all will go great with msfs2024.

The new 566.14 driver has also a new DLLS.dll version 3.8.10.0. i used dlls swapper to replace the dll in MSFS en i won a few (2) FPS.

The new app is much better than Geforce Exp. and worth using, as long as layers and filters are OFF. The app has a nice overclocking feature that works well (for me).

Is there an issue where AMD cores/threads might ā€œgo to sleepā€, when Control Panel setting isn’t set to ā€˜Prefer Maximum Performance’?

I had a couple of crashes before restoring the setting, which the upgrade process appears to change. I haven’t had one since, but whether that is the reason, I’m not sure.

I loaded up MSFS with my usual run-of-the-mill test scenario and see zero framerate difference on my GPU (RTX 4070 Ti Super). All good here!

With this new Nvidia App, how to make the HUD overlay (fps, gpu, cpu load…) automatically invisible on the Windows desktop, but visible on MSFS ?

I have constantly this HUD counter on my Windows desktop. It didn’t behave this way with the GeForce Experience overlay.

Just to clarify on my earlier post regards driver 566.14, i downloaded and installed the Studio driver. Have no issues whatsoever with this driver. The previous two drivers I had issues with.
Driver 561.09 was a good driver for me as well.
System:
Win 11 Pro 24H2 Os Build 26100.2314
i911900K all cores @ 5.1Ghz
ASUS RTX 3080 OC Edition
64Gig Ram
Samsung 980 Pro 2Tb SSD as main drive.

I didnt have luck to enable hidden ultra quality setting with nvidia profile inspector with latest gpu driver and latest dlss .dll

No need to use the Studio drivers imho. If this works well for you, that’s great I guess.

Thanks for the alert to the latest DLSS 3.8.10. Using it seems to have fixed my issue with Driver 566.14. Also used RevoUninstaller to remove any trace of prior driver versions and then used NVInstaller to custom install Driver 566.14. MSFS runs very smoothly and in VR although I may have lost a few FPS. Still experimenting with MSFS settings.
