NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready Driver 566.14 Discussion

No problems updating to the latest Game ready driver using the New App.
Everything is running fine tried a few filters with no probs.

The new app provides you with nearly all the settings in the " NVidia control panel" plus the ability to adjust them easily while flying in the sim.

It may pay to get used to the New App as it looks like the days are numbered for the ancient " NVidia control panel"

P.S. for me the Geforce Exp app ALWAYS ended up preventing my PC going into hibernation/sleep so I could never use it, but touch wood this works fine for now.

Same thing happened to me. Empty folder on AppData/Local/Nvidia

I am on 537.58 %userprofile%\AppData\Local\NVIDIA\DXCache\ and %userprofile%\AppData\Local\NVIDIA\GLCache\ Imgur: The magic of the Internet

Moved to app and newest driver, no issues with VR performance

GLCache no longer exists on my computer following the 566.14 (clean) install.

However, I did clean the DirectX Shader Cache with disk cleanup and had an exceptional two hour VR flight with the new driver. ā€œExceptionalā€ = I only noticed one stutter in the whole two hours.

I always found the GEforce Experience app to be slow to respond when setting up and using overlays. Mouse control slow too. Not so the new App, it’s very fast to work with the same overlays. It’s night and day in comparison.

Installed 566.14 driver + Nvid app, now get error message when start FS20.
Any ideas?

Just loaded and tested 566.14 on FS’20 in anticipation of FS’24, and it works well here. I’d start running through the usual troubleshooting procedures: clean uninstall, clean reinstall, rolling the drivers back, removing any settings tweaks, hardware settings or overclocking…

I should add that I’m not running NVExperience and have not modified anything in the NV Control Panel, and am running the GPU at stock on AMD hardware. Those are all areas that could see quite a bit of variability between setups.

Had exactly the same issue. Things I’ve done:

  • Upgraded to win11
  • Updated my BIOS
  • Turned HAGS and Game mode off (had better performance by doing so anyway)
  • Did a clean install of the driver (via the installer), did not use the app

Now it works. Had not tested with a full flight yet though for stutters etc.

Still on win11 23h2 though, my fresh upgrade does not see 24h2 yet.
Lots of moving targets here, not sure what did the trick. Either HAGS or clean install if I had to guess.

I had the same issue, I did a clean install of previous Driver 561.09 and that worked for me. I experienced the issue again after rolling back driver, did some more research and I read on another forum to turn off RTX Dynamic Vibrance in the Nvidia App. I had that on so I turned it off, and it seems to be working fine again no errors. Let me know if this works for you too.

This also worked in my case. Thanks for posting!

RTX3060 Asus laptop, moved from 556.12 to 566.14 and after a few flights looking good. To put it another way, the plane crashes exceed the driver crashes (the latter = 0)…

It will be a coincidence and I will do other tests, however, first flight with these new drivers, after having installed them carefully, via DDU and various procedures for deleting cache shaders etc., for the first time since I have been using MSFS2020 (i.e. since it came out) , I encountered the problem of blurry textures during the flight. Among other things, I took a flight that I did many times and I remember very well that I never had any kind of blurry problem. Well, I’ll do some more tests, but I only touched on the video drivers.

…and I can confirm that I had some strange pauses of several seconds on TrainSimWorld 5, here on MSFS it hasn’t happened to me (for now…), but I noticed these pauses on TSW5, which I had never had before.

Tried 566.14 (using DDU in safe mode beforehand) and while it worked ok with msfs2020, I didn’t see any improvements. I did seem to lose a lot performance with some SteamVR apps like Half-Life Alyx. So I’ve rolled back to 560.81 and all’s fine again.

PCVR with Quest Pro using Link cable at 650mbps encoding bitrate
i913900k/rtx4090/32Gb 6400 ram
DX11 with HAGS disabled and Game Mode = off.
Win11 Pro with 24H2 latest updates

BTW, not a big fan of the new Nvidia App and much prefer the good old Nvidia Control Panel. I suppose I’ll get more comfortable with this app in the future. Esp. now that even doing a custom install with 566.14 doesn’t give you the option to disable it installing, lol!

Will give this a try too, Thanks

Flickering game and textures. After I go to external view and back the whole game starts to flicker when I move my curser. Or I move my head with TrackIR. In external view I have also seen an AIG AI flight flicker taxi. When I quite the flight and go to the game interface now the curser highlighting also seen flicker two times. I have had this driver, the former and now trying 531,09.
I thought it was the driver, and have now tried 3 drivers. But the usual suspect seem more to be windows and MSFS preupdates or Windows updates.
I will say I have come to dislike these pre updates before official updates … They often mess things up and I have to spend hours on the forum for sorting things out.

And I believe this must be the case again. I have seen others talk about intense raise in stutters, which I have also. Well the 20 second freezes I have had also on 561,09.
Does anyone know if its the autumns Nvidia drivers or the MSFS and Windows updates?
Does anyone know a solution?

I’m on Windows 10 and had problems with recent Nvidia drivers (I think).

I was getting ā€œWindows will shut down in 1 minuteā€ messages. And it really did, outside my control as all user commands were blocked.

Users of other games had similar problems with crashes during the game. We all reported on a Microsoft support page. Some thought a driver or Windows update was the problem.

I’ve since rolled back to an August 2024 game ready driver (560.94). So far my PC seems reliable.

Could possibly be shader caching? Did it stop stuttering after a 2nd run?
