I’ll test it with MSFS 2024 to see if the Nvidia Freestyle filters are working yet. Don’t hold out much hope as nothing is mentioned but you never know, I’ll report back …

The driver is working fine here (RTX 4090).

And the answer is NO, freestyle filters are still not working. Looks like they’ve given up on them, not been working properley since Nov/Dec 2024.. Ho hum …

RIP…I don’t understand why they removed it ?

No I agree, was the best feature of the Nvidia APP. I can’t use this sim without them, the visuals are ■■■■, will have to go back to 566.36 to get them working again. :slightly_frowning_face:

Yes, it’s frustrating, especially since we have no explanation… I’m waiting for the imminent release of Rex Atmos for MSFS 2024.

Not familiar with that, what does it do?

One positive thing I will say with the 577.00 driver on my 2080 GPU is that it does seem to have lowered my GPU usage by about 8% on my standard test flight (comparing with my previous driver 566.36)

MSFS 24 crashes to desktop. Before this version, I had no problems.

If you’re not sure what REX Atmos is, it might be a good idea to give it a quick Google - it’s not something related to NVIDIA drivers. Let’s keep the focus here on NVIDIA drivers and everything related to them. REX Atmos definitely falls outside that topic.

I’ll be installing driver version 577.00 shortly - just haven’t had the time yet.

After installing this driver I rebooted my PC and had one CTD with 2024 shortly after I started it. It’s been fine since. Nothing new to report as far as performance goes.

Not a smooth experience and some stutters with these 577 after a short flight with MSFS2024. Clean driver install, DirectX Cache, reboot, MSFS graphics settings edit… 5070ti, FGx2. First time, I share a negative feedback.

It needs further investigation. The previous Game Ready Driver were perfect for me.

577 very smooth and excellent performance with MSFS2020 SU16beta

Despite the missing freestyle filters I’m quite liking the performance on my humble setup with this driver.

5700x3d, 2080 super and 32gb 3600mhz ram.
Definitely much smoother than the 566.36 i was using .

I might stay with it for a bit and give reshade a try again to see if i can improve the visual quality.

I installed the NVIDIA driver without the bloatware NVIDIA app. I made some changes to the profiles for MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 using the NVIDIA Control Panel, then restarted PC. During a test flight in MSFS 2024 SU3, I didn’t experience any CTD - performance was smooth with no issues. Of course, one flight isn’t exactly a proper test

If the Nvidia filters don’t come online, I highly recommend Rex Atmos. I know they are working on a 24 version. I tried filters a couple of years ago & it hit my fps a little, Atmos hasn’t affected anything apart from making the sim look amazing even in VR

Three things I do after clean installing new drivers (Nvidia app included):

Upon opening the Nvidia App:

  • Disable Auto Optimizations (no-brainer)
  • Disable the Overlay

:right_arrow: Then I uninstall the “FrameView SDK” via control panel.

I have never had the app cause an issue… Plus it’s much easier using the app to officially force DLSS presets now rather than Nvidia Profile Inspector.

New drivers are running quite well for me though- typical DDU wipe prior to clean install.

To “force” anything is a mistake in my opinion. 2024 runs great with this driver provided you do a clean install and leave the NCP and App settings at their defaults. Make all your graphics setting changes in the game only. If the game doesn’t natively support a particular feature, it’s a bad idea to try to “force” it to. But hey, if you’re looking for ways to break the game, have at it.
