NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready Driver 591.44 Discussion

I asked Perplexity AI to do a full research into Nvidia drivers from 577.00 to 591.44 and their compatibility with MSFS 2024 SU4. I have two machines (father and son) running RTX 4080/5080 so this was one of the parameters to consider when doing the research.
The results are based on comprehensive research across Reddit, NVIDIA Forums, MSFS Forums, Guru3D, and YouTube testing (41 sources), here is the updated ranking of all official NVIDIA GRD drivers from 577.00 to 591.44:

Hope this will help with your decision on which driver to install

new driver 591.59 released

Let’s give the feedback to appear on the web and I will update the table with new scores

One day safely with this driver, now a new one out. Oh well.

I’ve no metrics, but for me it’s fine 591.59. Similar to previous driver performance.

I’ll check later on VR.

I’ve seen that ranking and honestly this is exactly why AI-generated “research” should not be posted on the forum as a reliable source. The claim that driver 581.80 is the best for MSFS 2024 is simply wrong. In real-world usage it’s actually one of the weaker drivers in terms of performance and CTD.
Please avoid posting AI-written driver guides on the forum, because in this case it’s misleading and does not reflect actual stability or performance in MSFS 2024.

I disagree that its simply wrong as you put it. I’ve been running 581.80 since day 1. never had an issue. never had a reason to change. SU3 to SU4. no issues.

@TenPatrol … you wrote regarding 581.80 that it’s one of the weaker drivers. Which one would you recommend instead as the “stronger/better” one for FS2020 and FS2024?

Thanks!

566.14, 591.44

Sorry, I’m not sure I understand the very brief answer. Did you mean to say that both are equally good OR that 566.14 is best for 2020 and 591.44 is best for 2024 OR that 591.44 is best for 5000-series cards and 566.14 is best for Nvidia cards prior to the 5000 series?

I am using 591.59 with an ASUS 5080 and it is no worse than the others. I want to be on the cutting edge because of subtle changes in VR and VR-related software, but your milage may vary.

ASUS approves drivers with a long long delay… they test them in their mother boards and GPUs so if you have an ASUS set-up like myself and you want to be very sure, take their recommendations. Not sure what the other manufacturers do.

Exactly mate.

We can choose game ready or studio drivers.

NVIDIA say: “To achieve the highest level of reliability, Studio Drivers undergo extensive testing…….”

Choose wisely.

So how do you choose? I could be wrong, but what we need fo gaming is a little different than what content creators need in their studio set-ups. Which driver sets to you go with?

I always use Studio; they do seem to be reliable and stable.

Game ready tend to have many tweaks for new or updated games, the emphasis seems to be timely support of new features.
