MSFS is quite niche compared to other big titles, I suppose
I was flying 2020 again with the old 581 Studio driver. When I updated to 596.49 game ready driver, I get a CTD device hung error launching into VR with my Valve Index. 100% repeatable.
I haven’t seen any significant improvements compared to the last driver, flying in VR with rtx5090. Seems pretty stable so I’ll probably stick with it for now.
Just completed a successful 2.5h session with fenix 320 with my rtx 4080 / 5800x3d / 64GB in 4k/DLSS-DLAA mode - everything OK
Going to give that a try.
Update: So, I had it uninstalled, but the FBW installer insisted on finding the path to the community folder. I tried re-installing the Store version, but it gives me an error now. Won’t install. Luckily I have a Steam version of 2020 as well, so I’m installing that now. Crossing fingers. Fun and games.
Update 2: That worked.
For whatever reason with this new driver I get a lot of ghosting using DLSS Model M, and DLAA! This wasn’t the case with the prior version! I did a DDU install so not sure what happened! I am now using TAA because I can’t stand the ghosting issue…
i don t know how many of you guys have this " drivers " problems , i didn t have a single problem since sim release regard to driver only
Our Windows systems are not the same, just like our hardware configurations differ, so some people may experience issues that others simply don’t.
For example, there is a thread on the forum where users report stuttering in MSFS 2024 during taxi, cruise and landing. I don’t have this issue myself, but I still believe them.
On the other hand, I and many others have stuttering every 5 seconds in PMDG aircraft, while some users don’t have this problem at all or don’t even notice it.
As you can see, there are differences.

I am so thrilled with my system and experience. I know I do not have some magical combination of knowledge and great technology, my system is very simple and I am very simple, but I have had zero to little bad experiences since March 2025 with MSFS 2024. Granted, I am only 5070ti w 34" 1440 and zero add on’s, but my settings are within reason of your old 4090 settings you posted back in Nov / Dec. In early Nov I had issues with SU4 / Windows Update / New Driver when my Virtual Memory Load would spike and create CTD, but I just stayed away from New York and external view and it settled down and is ok now. I feel bad for everyone having so many problems, maybe I do and just don’t realize it?

Yes I have an ASUS 5080 and have given up on the Betas and OCing and my system is remarkably stable and running at 72 FPS with FG and 400 TLOD at 4K. Spending my time udnerstanding the various aircraft and going on group flights. None of the Aussi Group complain about the basic system.
Are there really 15 million users?
I found version 596.49 to be heavier than 596.36.
yea. this drivers does play a bit harder with my VRAM, and I need headroom for my 3080. But the 64gb RAM helps. CPU is always the bottleneck (i9-10900K)
