Running an i7 / 32mb / Samsung 990 pro with an Nvidia GTX 1650 chip w/4gb. The Nvidia driver is updated and I have it set to allow the system to select setting. Can offer some advice on the MSFS setting to get better performance ? Thanks.
I don’t think there will be much more you can adjust to make the GTX 1650 work. The absolute minimum GPU power stated for the sim is a GTX 970, and the recommended card is an RTX 2080 - a generation and several performance tiers above the 1650.
In practice, MSFS will soak up as much PC performance as you can offer it and then some. Currently your PC seems more balanced towards the CPU with an i7 in there and the GPU is limiting performance all round.
If you could upgrade it to a 3070 or 4060, you would get much better results for an outlay of 200 - 300.
Thank you for replying. This is an all in one so the Nvidia chip and its memory are soldered on the main board. Does MSFS adjust the setting to accomodate this chip or is there anyhting else I can do in settings to help ? Thanks.

In this case though, I don’t think there’s much you can do. The settings in your screenshot were already very low, and the problem is that the GTX 1650 just doesn’t have the performance to run MSFS properly.
It is possible to run an external GPU to boost a laptop’s gaming performance, but the connection will lose some of the theoretical gains, and you won’t get the power of a normal internal GPU, certainly not that of a desktop PC with the same card.
If it’s not possible to change the laptop or move to a desktop pc, have you considered the XBox Series X for MSFS? For the outlay, the performance on offer is better than a PC at 2 or 3 times the console’s cost, and it’s compatible with a few decent flight controls too.
You could consider running FS2020. I used to run it with a 750 ti!
My first thought was switching away from TAA. Unfortunately, the GTX 1650 does not support DLSS. I’m afraid you’re fighting a steep uphill battle here.
