Today I made 4 tests using Nvidia settings for MSFS in Geforce experience. There a nine levels, from performance (level 1) to quality (level 9). Mu main specs are i7-7700K (no overclock), 64GB 3000MHz DDR4, RTX3090FE, screen 3440x1440. MSFS in installed on a Samsung 970 Evo plus 500GB 4x NVMe device, MSFS 1.12.13. As discussed before by other persons, the genral feeling is that the RTX 3090 is not used at its full potential. But also my i7-7700K don’t seems to be pushed to its max. However these test show how the main memory and the VRAM are used. The scenario I used is a taking of from Laguardia KLGA (day time), runway 31, plane DA62, cockpit main vue only, 1000 feet max, heading the empire state building, right turn and flying over central park. Sensors recorded using GPU-Z 2.36.0
Level1: Max VRAM used: 6072 MB, Max system memory used 21414 MB, CPU average temp: 67,1 °C
Level4: Max VRAM used: 8074 MB, Max system memory used 23679 MB, CPU average temp: 69,1
Level7: Max VRAM used: 10527 MB, Max system memory used 26783 MB, CPU average temp: 71,0
Level9: Max VRAM used: 12301 MB, Max system memory used 29548 MB, CPU average temp: 71,6
At least, when using the high quality settings, the huge amount of this videocard is useful !

So my system is…
Ryzen 3900X, 32GB RAM 3200mhz, ASUS TUF OC 3090, various Solid state drive’s inc a 2TB Sabrent Rocket PCIe 4.0.
I’ve experienced similar Ram usage as you, but the GPU is frankly sat there not breaking a sweat. Yes you can bump up resolution scaling etc, but all you are really doing is pushing the VRAM usage - everyone with a fairly competent GPU is CPU limited in MSFS

I run a 3080 FE and a 3700X, and it’s better with 1440p 150 render scaling (4K), but yeah still usually CPU bound
I just put together R7 3800x on X570 ASUS and finally yielded to ebay and got a RTX 3900 O24. Surprised how well the 1650 Super was doing before it was replaced. Paying a grand for a Proc next? Oh brother. Can’t take it with me. Right?
I’m GPU limited with the 5900x and a 3090 at 4k, even with a CPU intensive airliner, which I thought was interesting. I have to drop down to 1080 to be more consistently CPU bound.
I’ve got the same setup as you but with 1440p and have been limited by mainthread. Airliners are hovering in the 30s.
Same with the A320 at MDW in Chicago? Some airports and airliners have a much more costly hit on performance.
Try turning off traffic including AI, live, multiplayer, airport vehicles. Turn SMT off in your BIOS. All of those should help with a CPU limited situation.
