Just upgraded from GTX 1070 to RTX 3060, but strangely enough the sim doesn`t really run better.
The 1070 runned on medium with 38 to 40 fps, but i,m struggling to get that done with the RTX 3060.
I,m now fiddling with tlod and dx12/dlss etc, but would have expected quitte some more fps with this “younger” 3060 card. In dev settings I do get limited by cpu, with both cards.
Anybody else who swapped cards had this… well small disappointment ?
From what i,ve read the 3060 should be 30% faster.
Still enjoying flying with it, but just wondering.
I’m guessing you are tied to needing the laptop form factor, but with $1500 you could do a DIY desktop build that would be a much better use of funds and get you meaningful improvement in performance.
10th and 11th gen Intel and Ryzen 5x00 CPU’s / Motherboards / DDR4 RAM prices are SOOO low now, you could really put something nice together on a budget.
As you found, been CPU limited is the key problem here, even an RTX3090TI will not provide you much more fps…
On the bright side, if you play other games you’ll be glad to have upgraded. MSFS is one of Sim which is really CPU intensive vs the vast majority of games GPU limited.
